I'm not so sure about that "less meals tend to make you consume less calories". I find that waiting longer for the next meal will make me hungrier and more prone to overstuffing out of gluttony or anxiety. I'd rather feel full for most of the day so i can prepare myself a modest dinner for example

Many thanks for your input FHP. I'm a physically fit male with an aggressive Brain Tumour who is 49 years old, and doesn't drink alcohol or smoke. I'm 5'6" tall and weigh about 145 lbs. I hypertrophy train six days a week to loose some unwanted belly fat and maintain my level of fitness to help me fight my Cancer. In regard to splitting my calorie-intake through a day, I've been having a 35g of Veg' Protein shake with water during my gym training at about 6am, and then a 35g of Veg' Protein shake mixed with almond milk straight after as a breakfast at about 8am . I then have a chicken breast with vegetables or pasta or salad for a lunch at about 11am, and a final intake of 35g of Veg' Protein shake with water at about 4pm. If I ever feel a bit hungry in an afternoon, I might also eat a 16g of Veg' Protein bar. This day-to-day plan obviously places a lot of focus on the contents of the shakes and not normal meals, but I feel great during each day of my progress, so here is my Is this 45% intake of shakes instead of solid food a safe plan, or am I slowly creating problems for my future ? Many thanks in advance for your reply.

It's a very personal thing, but I don't feel hungry in the mornings and apparently I've been intermittent fasting since my teens because I've always just had lunch and dinner. The downside is recently I've realised that I'm not hitting my ideal protein macros even though my meals always have some meat/fish/eggs, so now I'm considering adding a protein shake to my diet because I really can't imagine eating 3 big meals in a day.

In a cut, there is one feeling I'm really missing. Feeling stuffed after a meal.
I'm not hungry while the cut. But I'm never really full, because I split my meals 4 times.

Tomorrow I will eat more at once again.

Im an Endomorph with insulin resistance and celiac so i decided to go keto wich is high fat, medium protein and low carb, funny thing is after i went keto i feel less hungry between meals than i did, before going keto before keto i would eat 4-6 small meals but due to keto i now eat 3 meals, large breakfast small lunch and a small dinner (if i need a meal 4 wich is a small afternoon meal then i eat two avocado with a spoon).

Hello FHP, I was wondering is there such thing as muscles responding to different rep ranges and loads? Thanks for making educational content!

Ooof. I see what you´re saying, but since I´m plant based, it would be absolutely impossible to eat the required volume of food in just two or three sittings. Besides, I really hate feeling of being stuffed. For people who eat more meals per day, I think that coocking in bulk is the way to go: prepare lunch and dinner for 4 days in advance in one 2-3 hour cooking session, and have the rest of your meals be snacks/shakes/, something that doesnt take more than 15-20 mins to prep.

I am trying to slowly gain weight right now. I eat 4 meals per day, but once a week I have a cheat meal. On days when I have a cheat meal, I eat 3 meals that day. My reason is I basically eat 2.5 meals worth of volume of food on my cheat meal, so eating 3 meals on a cheat day is just a bit higher than 4 meals on a regular day. This way my calories are not way too high on cheat days. They are probably 300-400 higher than a normal day, but that is better than 600-700.

Is there a protein limit that the body can’t absorb more in every meal ?

I 100% Disagree . I pack 3 meals and eat half a meal every 2-1/2 hours which totally satisfy my appetite and more importantly my stomach is not stretched out packing in the whole meal So in turn my stomach is smaller and now I require less food to be satisfied .. I have went from a 36 waist to 32 waist in 2 months . My goal is 28" . We will see . FYI I'm 58yrold man

I'm going to be a 'wild horse' and run on a different path. : )
It's not how many meal one eats but how much of the nutrients one can absorb and/or needs.
Just like first finding ones per session per muscle volume and than the recovery period needed for that than establishing a frequency.
Ok call me crazy. lol 👍

frequent eatings will prevent sugar spikes though.

I can't make more than 2 meals a day can I eat 2 meals a day within my calories I have to eat 2680 calories can I make each meal one 1000 something would that work? Does that matter? I literally have no time. I have to go to school then go to the gym and I have to go to sleep early when I used to cook for times a day I used to go to sleep at 12:00 in the night. Wasn't letting my muscles recover and was very tired and low in energy I literally have no time. I hope it's okay to eat two meals a day within your calories

Am i nuts or did it start out by saying "assuming calorie intake is equated" and then in each section proceed to outline that total calorie intake would differ?

Hi FHP!! One question, is there any use in dropping loads during a set to achieve a "high precision" training to failure? I mean, I start curling with 15kg, I reach 8 reps (when I failure), then I rapidly switch to 10 kg and do another 6 reps until failure, and finish with another 6 reps with 8kg. Obviously I'm being quite exaggerated but I have always wonder it and I kind of do it sometimes when I feel I haven't achieve my absolute failure but I don't know how useful it is or if there is any study about it.
