The way I used to do it years ago was to get a chunk of steel, grind it as a wedge that's the same shape as the port, then use it as a swage and press it in to expand the pipe. That's the trick I learned from an old school hotrodder in the late 90s. A trick to stop warping is to weld on a 1/2" piece of flat stock at least .125" thick to the runners about 2" out from the flange to connect them. On turbo headers it also helps add strength if you are using the header to support the turbo without any additional bracing.

Awesome job! As a mechanic and an owner of nothing but Mopars I really enjoy your videos.

Quick piece of advice if you ever do this again, clamp the head flange in the vice on its sides (the position you had it sitting at) when shaping the tubes to the ports. So much energy from that air hammer was wasted with all the movement with the flange not being solid probably the reason you didn't get the super tight fit up to the flange you were after.

Keep on keeping on 👍

This is cool because everybody is always LS swapping everything, even golf karts, so it's awesome too see a HEMI swap.

Looking good! I only do globy arc welds so yours look great and I’m sure that by the end of this project your welds will be back up to your standards.

That’s a lot of work just to have it crack later because you didn’t want to back purge.

NEVER USE BRAKE CLEANER WHERE YOU WELD!!! it can cause a deadly poisonous gas called phosgene (sp). No one knows what it smells like because one sniff and your dead! Please be safe and don't pass on information that could hurt your viewers 🙏.. love the header build.. I built a set in 1976 for my small block Chevy swapped '41 Chevy coupe street rod. Not stainless though.. just mild steel oxy acetylene welded then chromed. Keep up the good work 👏

This ought to be interesting, anyone who has knows it is a very specialized art building a functional set, most of these kits end up in millions of pieces in the garbage, good luck ombre. The title of this video should be watch how I butcher this job..
