David and David discuss whether or not you should get a 5G cell phone in 2020. Although 5G is new and exciting, it hasn’t been deployed in enough areas yet to justify the increased price of 5G phones.

I come from the future. Almost all the major carriers offer 5g coverage in every major city and 5g phones are much cheaper now.

1 year later Nov 2020. In Canada, Telus covers the 5 biggest cities in the country, excluding Montreal, and some spotty rich communities in the east, which are relatively isolated. Nothing in between. peace

I had to get a new phone it is xr nothing was said, to me about 5g but it is on my phone. I thought it automatically came with the newer phone. Can it be changed and how. I don’t like it when they don’t tell you or ask what they are doing!!!

Actually the H+ before is so strong and ther here it comes the 3G and H+ became so slow then the 4G came out and the 3G slow. And i think maybe they just slowing the previous tech and not really making faster tech

I guess 5G will be ultimately deployed to smaller cities more or less quickly since it is a good opportunity for mobile telephony operators to compete against internet broadband operators. Yes, many times they both are part of a single big conglomerate... but sometimes not. In the case of my residence in particular, I'm cornered between relatively slow twisted pair broadband services and a very fast coax cable service from a company I simply hate. And so, I'm anxious for a broader range of options from new entrants in this market of internet connectivity. A 5G mobile hotspot at home would be wonderful and I would not have problem to be kinda first adopter, paying a premium for a fast service which keeps me far from the coax cable operator.

I agreed to the fact that the average consumer won’t need a 5G phone. 4G LTE a will be fast enough and efficient for a lot of people. However, there’s other ways of implementing 5G on like what you mentioned in your video with the nodes on the Telephone poles. There’s different flavors if you of 5G. Also meant to mention the cost of 5G phones are gonna be more initially then I’ll come down in price. Also, the galaxy folder is already out.

4g LTE is definitely fast enough ....
160+ Mb/s download on several occasions, but averages between 60 - 70 during peak periods where i live.

5g might be useful if you are a gamer and your phone's screen is capable of a refresh rate of 120Hz and has a 4k resolution.

The cost of the infrastructure needed is rarely talked about and could run into the 10's of billions just in the US.
Then there is the ongoing power requirements of this extensive small cell network, and this also will be huge.

It will be the consumer that will ultimately pays for both the setup and the running costs of 5g.

I believe 6g is now being tested because of penetration issues with 5g in certain situations.
It will take microwave radiation output to a whole new level.

5g is a concern now for many well known and respected scientists and medical specialists, because no medium or long term studies have been undertaken.

The FCC are saying its safe, it will be in your neighborhood soon and no discussion will be entered into....period.
