After being gifted an old Sigma lens just before Christmas, I felt the urge to go and get a camera to stick it on...

You have a brand new subscriber my friend. I've owned a D90 for about the past 18 months. I wanted something good, but inexpensive. So my options were to go with something 'entry level' but new, or something a bit more prosumer, and er, well.. not quite so new. My dad managed to find an almost mint condition D90 on Ebay. The shutter count was 547 when I bought it. It's considerably more than that now. I absolutely love my D90! Fits me like a glove!

Good to see you back and producing the quality videos we know and love. I recently leant my son my D200 with a quite nice Sigma zoom. I suspect I'll never get it back but it's good that these "older" cameras still have plenty of use in them.

We like your mushy videos :). Congrats with your new camera - it's strangely pleasant succumbing to GAS... I have also got myself a macro lens, a nikkor micro 55mm f/2.8, which I am going to try using for "scanning" my 35mm film images with the X-T3.

Loved my D90 but I couldn't stand the base 200 ISO and the 1/4000 max shutter speed, would've been ok if it was 1/8000 to compensate witj the ridiculously high base ISO

That should be one very good lens Nick, the examples at the end show it off very well (loved the Skopar and Cyberman shots). MTH to round it off? Surely a very underrated band! How can I not say R.I.P. to Meatloaf - sadly missed.

It's actually a 14 year old camera, released in 2008 :)

Nice to see you again Nick, you look good, rested and in very good spirits, the mini vacation did you good. Honestly it doesn't matter if it’s new or 10 years old, a new toy is always fun. You know that I always have to complain about something, so her it goes, the images that you got from the camera are very good, but as usual you’re trying to confuse me, you number them from 1 to 7 and then back to 1 for the last image, please stop it, I’m trying to cut down on my alcohol consumption and you’re not helping. Be well, stay safe and I’m definitely looking forward to your next video. BTW, thank you for asking, I’m doing great after getting the omicron variant of covid-19, why me, why is it always me?

Nice little video Nicky, I love the D90, it was my first ever camera believe it or not. I only used it as a happy snappy holiday camera, the images were great quality but terrible in terms of aesthetics. In fact I couldn't part with it when I upgraded to the D800 and beyond and I still have it tucked away in my office 😂Take care 🙏🙏🙏

My first DSLR was a Nikon D40X which I used very little and still have.
The 18-55 kit lens has no VR. I use the camera now and then with a nikon 35mm 1.8G Dx lens
I wouldn't sell it because I'd get very little for such a well conditioned camera
I upgraded it to a D5100 which fell into the drink several years ago but was dried out and still works
I'm hoping to get it converted to IR when this pandemic calms down and if Russia doesn't invade Europe?

I'm so glad I don't have any money at all, it's actually quite humbling. You know, I do my household chores and I get so much free time to go out and take piccies when ever I want to. I really do love my D3000, simply because it gets me out of the house. Yes, it is very limited in what I can do with it. But in bright conditions I get great colours, and provided the FX is in focus which I have to do manually as the D3000 doesn't support it, it's great.
Do you remember me asking you which DSLR I should get to replace my D3000. I couldn't decide between the D700 or the D7000. I eventually decide on the D7000 since it was newer, cheaper by about £70, and it had dual card slots of which I have quite a few SD cards and no er....the er.... other bigger cards ;-). Anyway it didn't happen because of you know what and I couldn't work any more. Boo hoo. I sold of all my biker gear, my e-scooter and a few other things, but in the end it all went on
Anyway, enough of my mwydro. Excellent buy mate and keep faffing. Love it.

Hey mate, I am starting off with some astrophotography and this is the old family camera. I have the shutter speed set to 30 seconds, and i click the shutter button but it takes it straight away. Can you lend a hand please!

From a free lens you end up by buying a new camera!!! 🤣 you should ask your sister to pay for that 😂

I see you still suffering with Gas then mate 🤣 You n Steve O'Nions could do a "camera off" I reckon. Under 1k actuations, how the eck do you find bargains like that? My mate still uses this very camera - basically with a couple of kids in uni its a case of wait til they finish before treating himself. Nikon colour science - one of the reasons I bought another Canon, love the colours but if I am honest I find my new mirrorless R colours different to all the Canons I have had previously. 10 year old performance.. ? I think it still performs well and looking at the images you got yourself a bargain. Nice bit of Mott at the end too. atb Al

10 years old performance in terms of battery life is better 🤣
