@MohDza i know it does both. ive just been looking at both cameras for their video ability and it was nice for someone to finally say which was the superior video camera

@TheNxtLife - Yes, for sure. The D7000 is the BEST DX camera on the market today... hands down. It also does video superbly... as good or better than the Canon 2Ti, 60D, or 7D.

bought the d90 some weeks ago.
if video was a factor id have the cannon, but a good video needs a good sound too. So you have to buy a mic etc.
But i wanted to concentrate getting better at photography. And after playing with both cameras, it was obvious how much faster it is to play with the option on the d90. Absolute best button layout and the 2 wheels are placed just at the right spot.
While others have to go through menu options you already captured the right moment.

My last point and shoot camera is a 6MP (2 attachable lens) and I have a camcorder but it doesn't do HD video. I went with the T2i recently because what it can do and was my price range. T2i kit with extra battery, battery grip and a 50mm lens for just under $1K.

My brother has the D90 for about a year now. A double edge sword.

thanks matt...ill go for the nikon d90, the video capability of the canon is still no match with a low-end camcorder...that was helpful after a grueling search for a better cam between the two.you made my search shortened...thanks, man.

I have the D90, it takes amazing pictures, and the video isn't that bad. I think the audio for it isn't all that great though. But that's just me.

@chookization video shooting dslr is actually becoming a breakthrough. starters could start with these slightly affordable devices.

@VandalScythe I agree that video is becomming excellent in DSLR's.

But my point is, for all the people arguing about which video quality is better between the Nikon and Canon, should spend the same money on a Video camera for better quality!

Hi Mat,
I was hoping you can help me out. I'm just overwhelmed with information.
I am looking for a camera that is good for video and also good for photography because i want to do a lot of both. I do a lot of slow shutter, night photography, so one that works well at a higher ISO too. I was hoping to get a nikon around $1000 -
Am I crazy to think I could get all of this in one camera or are there any that you suggest?

@all4uboom you need a good lens. strongly recommend a solid body with strong build/ VR/ IS lens. Far as i know, VR is slightly better than the Canon IS lenses. For the price range of what you are looking at, go with the D90. T2i can't handle telephoto lenses... the bodies are too light to carry the lens.
