He’s not wrong! Workout is more effective when u r not holding on to the rails, same goes for the treadmill. With that being said, the rails are there for safety and to keep it beginner friendly. As you get use to the machine, you will be amaze at yourself for not needing the rails 😊.

you really get a great burn no-handed. I can sidestep and walk backward on it with no support. 10mins 6x a week has my legs and core in great shape!

I "sprint" for 3 mins between 12-15 for 3 min, slow it down to side step ea side for 2min, then finish walking backward keeping upright as possible. If I have to balance myself I just use a finger until I have my rhythm again

I finally have some calves on me, it's also helped with knee pain, balance, and coordination.

I just start stumbling without the rails and I don’t want a broken leg or worse 😂

I like your way. It’s understandable that in the beginning one might feel unsteady and therefore hold on to the rail. So being slow and get into an even rhythm so you can let go of the rail. Once you’re comfortable without holding on to the rail, increase speed rate one notch at a time to allow yourself to go faster and be comfortable with each speed increase. This way I’ve been able to eventually run the speed at the highest setting (#20) and not hold the rails.

If you need to support yourself, do it!
As you build endurance, "interval" btwn 2 mins "hands off" vs 1 min "hands on."

Game changer

I see a lot of people hover at the top, but I try to let the mill guide my foot halfway off so it gets the full extension (not sticking out, standing up) and create a circle motion with both legs, fluidity feeling

Correction. Hold on to the bars by the stop button. On the limit, or when tired, you will mistep and fall off

I don't use the rails, and I do a full hour, however, I had to work up to that. I suggest by starting with 15 seconds per minute no hands, work you way up to 20 seconds, 30 seconds, etc, until you get a minute on, a minute off, two minutes on, two minutes off, and just build from there. The burn without using the rails, while forcing you to balance is insane compared to using your hands and the rails. Definitely worth it. Just carefully and slowly work your way up to that level.

Are this any good if you’ve had a knee replacement

Efficient and optimal performance is only important when you are already at that level. This shorts will demotivate people from using the machine if they can’t perform it exactly like this guy, so do it however you want as long as you don’t

I dont think he’s saying dont grab the railing, i think he just means don’t lean on it.

Taking breath in between or taking support of handles to increase the session is always good— there is nothing wrong

I dnt lean over the top, but i do hold on to the two hand pieces that sticks out

Not sure why there’s criticism about the kickback. I do that sometimes to give one of my legs a break when I’m getting tired. Who cares about if it does anything or not. Also, as a dancer I find doing that helpful if you do it with more intention and it’s not simply just kicking back. It’s only wrong if it could lead to injury. If not, you do you.
