"That makes us the original victims of identity theft. We lost our names. We lost our languages. We lost the freedom to honor our ancestors and our families were torn apart." That's a powerful statement because it's true.

I love how African American women talk. They always sound like they're singing when they talk. Such melodic voices love it!

As an African born and raised in Africa, i want my brothers and sisters whose ancestors were taken to know we love you, we would love to have you and we love what you have built despite what they did to you. They stole you, you defied them and you are stronger for it! Mad love from the mother land!

African Americans should have this paid for by the US government. They deserve knowledge of their identity

Iran here. There are people with dark complexions in southern Iran. Many people still think they're dark because of the "climate" down there (very hot and humid regions next to the Persian Gulf), but they're actually 'Afro-Iranians', which absolutely amazed me the 1st time I heard about it.

it's so sad and horrible that a lot of black people can't know about their tribe/clan/cultural/ethnical background. :( i'm indonesian and i absolutely cannot imagine my life without knowing my clan, my tribe, my ethnical background from my mother's side and my father's side, and their culture. it's part of who i am and it's so sad to see a lot of black people not having the privilege to know theirs.... being stripped away from your heritage is so so so saddening!!! my country was colonized too and we had a large portion of our culture cut off by the colonizers as well and it's horrible. to all my black brothers and sisters i pray that you guys can find out about your ancestors, tribes, clans, and cultures. 💖

The truth is that the fact that we are alive, descendants of slaves, means that our ancestors were fighters and extremely resilient. We have to honour them with our lives. Peace to us all it is our time now to rise.
