I have always used distortion pedals until recently.
I find I get more of what Im lookin for putting an overdrive pedal on top of a dirty channel.
As a boost with the level up and gain down, or mixing the dirt, level in the middle with the gain mixed at exactly that " sweet spot".
I guess none of it matters if I suck at guitar anyway, but, hey, I like it.
