This is a very realistic, specific and overall extremely useful tutorial for beginners. I'm sure this is what a beginner is truly looking for. Thank you.

My first pedal, and my only pedal for a long time, is my Tube Screamer (TS-9). If you're amp doesn't have reverb built in, I would suggest a reverb pedal as one of the first few pedals.

you've really hit the jackpot with these kinds of videos, only improvement I can think of would be have a ten second demo of each sound.

Keep it up marty! been following you for 5 years since I started learning to play.

My first pedal was the Ditto Looper, and I couldn't be happier with it. It is very easy to use and has been instrumental to developing my timing and lead playing. My friend just gave me a Boss DS-1 Distortion pedal. Having a lot of fun with this classic crunch maker. Think I'll look into the delay next.

Man, it would be nice to see you demo these pedals. Thanks for all the awesome vids. I give you most the credit in my guitar education so far.

Great video Marty. I think a lot of us would appreciate more of these starter videos for guitars or amps. Keep up the great work!!

Great advice Marty. I use a looper for practising my soloing skills and an overdrive pedal is always good if you want to heard above the rest of the band when you take a solo. I also have a Dunlop Cry Baby though I use it sparingly as too much wah wah can be tiresome. I also play slide on a Danelectro 56-U2 and find that a compressor pedal comes in useful to get more sustain. I used to have a Dynacomp but eventually splashed out on an Origin Effects Slide Rig to get that Lowell George sound. I find the built-in reverb on my tweed Blues Junior is more than enough but I do like the shimmer of a tremolo pedal every now and then.

Nice video! I use a clean booster, tuner and compressor as the first input pedals on every pedalboard.

Took your recommendation and purchased the Line 6 M9 Multi Effects pedal. Really happy I listened to your suggestion. It does quite a bit for one unit. Thanks Marty.

this video couldn't have come at a better time. I'm off to buy my first pedal this weekend and I'll definitely be checking these suggestions out. Cheers Marty!
