The Afro-Argentines are black immigrants from Africa who were enslaved in Argentina in the 18th century. Their large numbers formed a significant part of the Argentina population, but after a few years, their numbers decreased.

In 17 78, according to a census carried out by the Spanish council, it was discovered that the Afro-Argentines were about 37% of Argentina's population. Many years later, they dropped to about 15% of the total population, and now Argentina is currently the whitest country in South America. Due to the limited population of the Afros, it's almost impossible to find them in notable careers such as sports, journalism, politics, and many more.

A lot of inacccuracies and just false things in the video. Yo associate the whole atlantic slave trade as if buenos aires was an important city during the times, when it was not, it was no "center of slave trade", like it was the case in Bahia Brazil, or Cuba, Jamaica, etc. Also the numbers you say for the interior are completely made up, it would be nice you quote your sources, but it seems you are conflating numbers that are true for Colombia, Venezuela, etc. It was never 50%. And you keep mixing images and historical drawings that have nothing to do with argentina but are from other northern Latin american countries. Im not trying to defend Argentina, im not saying slavery didnt exist or that they weren't racist, but this video is far from the facts and numbers of how it happened, and it seems to point out argentina as if it was any different from the rest of the countries at the time.

as an argentinian, i don't understand why this video is so full of lies or half truths to make it look real. maybe they are ashamed of their own racism and colonialism?
Argentina got rid of slavery in 1813 and was never "the center of slave trade" that was brasil.
and i like the fact that while you are talking about argentina i can see ecuador flags in the background or using scenes from all over the world.

The reason why Argentina don't have a high rate of afrodescendant population. It's because here the races mixed, blacks, whites and mestizos. However, in anglosaxon countries, this mixture was prohibited. It's funny that the yankees come to teach us respect for the races. 🇦🇷❤️🇦🇷

The idea that Africans were "captured" is far from the truth in most of these West African countries. When I went to Benin in 2012, I spoke to locals in Ouidah who told me about how African Kings sold their people and slaves that they had acquired from other tribes, to the Europeans for guns, cannons, and ammo. Benin was the first country to send slaves to the new world which is why Voodoo is practiced in Haiti to this day (originally founded in Ouidah).

They didn't erase them Argentina had a small population until the 1800's then rapid immigration which decreases a percentage of existing demographic as the overall population inflates. Also Argentina never had a large subsahran population to begin with.

You forgot the fundamental thing: in Argentina we mix, there is no one of pure race, Spanish, indigenous and black people mixed since the colony and then with the arrival of European immigrants at the end of the 19th and 20th centuries they also mixed. There were never separate neighborhoods and things like that.

Because I've looked up this census and it does NOT say 50% anywhere, it says 24% but its not about a national level, it says 24% of the population of both the city of Buenos Aires proper + the campaña (rural areas surrounding the city) is black african. It didn't measure the population of the whole Viceroyalty of the Rio de la Plata as far as I know. Therefore we dont have a number for the whole country. It's like taking a census for the state of New York and saying that census represent the whole United States.

Nice propaganda you got there, but can you get us some sources? bc most of the numbers you using aren't about Argentina but the Viceroyalty that today is divided between 5 different countries... and as soon as Argentina independized and formed a state it abolished slavery in literally 3 years... with so many other innacuracies (like the type of labor or the actual borders where this poor people got moved around) this video is hardly informative but more anti Argentina propaganda using racism as the medium
