Good report. Argentina gets a well earned bad reputation over the aftermath of WWII, and yet, the number of Nazis that ended up in Argentina were a drop in the bucket compared to the ones that ended up living and working quietly in the US, Russia or Western Europe. This video explains all of it in great detail.

The scene in X-Men First Class where Magneto goes to Argentina to get his revenge is one of my favorite movie scenes.

It’s crazy to think that all this happened so recently in the grand scheme of things. It really wasn’t all that long ago.

My wife’s grandparents moved from West Switzerland to Chile in the end of the 40s. Them being of German descents and my wife’s family not knowing any of the history of their family back in Europe has always made me curious.

An excellent reminder that when the war is formally over, a long fight remains ahead

This just goes to show that, you can be a deploreable person and if you have value, a government will save you, recruit you and you'll live a comfortable life.

I grew up with an SS officer living behind me, in Southern California. It was a lot more common than people realized.

Like most of these documentaries, you never even mention Otto Skorzeny, who played a huge role in helping many Nazis escape to Argentina, through his ODESSA organization, and his personal relationship with Evita Peron.
His name has also been scrubbed from the record concerning Nuremberg, even though he was elected to legally represent most of his former Nazis. He was even the one who first coined the "just following orders" defense.
The reason for this is obvious, when you consider that his story was an embarrassment to the Allied narrative. After personally beating two separate sets of war crimes charges, he told the Allies flatly that he would simply leave if they charged him again. The morning after they charged him a third time, they found his cell empty, and he was never (officially) seen again. When the Mossad finally tracked him down, they recruited him.
Being largely responsible for the disappearance of a great number of war criminals, you'd think he'd at least warrant a mention.

As a matter of fact, there was a war criminal in our neighborhood. His name was John Demjanjuk, aka Ivan the Terrible. I remember when they finally tried him and won, too.

The Paraguay Police have confirmed that they found papers from when Paraguay was a dictatorship, that Martin Bormann died in Asuncion, Paraguay. They also know who's house he was living at, in his last couple of years. They also confirmed that his body was buried in a cemetery not very far away in a town called Ita, and buried in a cemetery there. He bones had to have been shipped back to Germany as they contain soil which perfectly match the soil in the cemetery. The have the papers that also prove Dr. Josef Mengele moved to Paraguay in 1958 to treat Martin Bormann who died in 1959 to stomach cancer. That also explains why the skull of Martin Bormann had post 1950 dental work and why the chief of Scotland Yard did not believe that Martin Bormann died in Germany as stated in the autopsy report. This information is available on the internet and if confirms other witnesses reports.

Perhaps the word "escorted" rather than "fled" would better describe their exit.

It seems you're suggesting that every allied government committed war crimes post-war by shielding war criminals.

Most history nuts know about operation Paper Clip, and a large number of us even know how the Red Scare of the 1950's had many of these people working for us.

But to see it all here, presented in such a concise way that covers so much ground is simply incredible.

Well done Infographics, well done.
