Sheikh what books would you recommend the youth to read obviously besides the Holy Qur'an and the Seerah, realising the fact that muslim youth is being bombarded with kufry waswasah through media and mainstream education, what are essential reads would you recommend to prepare us to face the challenges of this century

Philosophy means understanding or worldview in today's language. As Muslims we should be aware of other's point of view but we can't think that they have any meaningful truth as a result of their way of thinking. Islam has always been the best way of thinking and best way of life from the creation of Adam till this very day. Do not fall for false advertising of others, as long as one wants to stay human Islam gives the best solution for every problem a person can go through. May Allah increase our wisdom and gratitude.

Imam Ashafi‘y said that his judgement for those who study philosophy „…that they should be stroked with palm branches and shoes and that they should be carried upon the backs of camels through the streets and the tribes and that one should call upon them and say ‚this is the punishment of those who left the book (Quran) and the Sunna (prophetic teachings) and turned towards philosophy‘“.

The opinion of other great scholars about philosophy was pretty much the same. Imam Ashafi‘y used to concern himself with the philosophers very little and avoid engagement. The only engagement that took place was a more or less forced engagement. Actually scholars who lived during the time period of Ibn Taymiyya used to criticize him for engaging in philosophy and using it. So even for him it is not really justified, even if he was able to manage it and keep himself clean from heresy.
