Just, like, tell me how you feel about this? Because it hurt me a little to talk about it if I'm being real with you.

Nobody uses any of these enough, I figured I'd send a little thank you for all the quality engaging content you do. Cheers man.

I've been streaming every single day on YouTube since around 2018 - the platform has had it's ups and downs but at the moment the viewership is difficult to keep consistent. The nature of YouTube is that viewers are a lot less patient than on Twitch - They expect quick, snappy content as there's so much competition, therefore I find that just chill, slow paced livestreams are struggling to find fit in the algorithm when you're competing with the highly edited and optimised video content such as what MrBeast uploads. The viewership also seems fickle and the audience is nowhere near as loyal as what you'd find on Twitch. I'm stuck in a difficult situation at the moment where I'm making stream content that would be more suitable for Twitch on a platform that doesn't cater to that kind of content yet and the community here on YouTube are less likely to want to watch livestreams of just playing games etc. The streams that I think thrive on this platform (and the direction that I think YouTube wants to go in) is event based content. Shorter, higher quality streams that is vastly different from the typical content you'd find on Twitch. I think YouTube see streaming as a supplementary content to videos/shorts rather than as a main form of content. As a streamer primarily, that's difficult to know as YouTube may or may not cater to the more consistent 'daily streamer' type content (you'd think by signing Courage, Valkyrae, Tim, Sykkuno, Ludwig etc. that they are trying to push that) but I feel as though they're finding it difficult to fit that in alongside the video based content that will always be king and what the platform is known for. I've been thinking about actually moving over the other way - to Twitch! Where I can put those typical 'Twitch' streams that I'm currently doing on YT and keep only the event based content (the content that does best) on YouTube, unsure about whether that is the best idea though, considering I've been on this platform for 8 years lmao. I think for the wider streaming community, it's thinking about what type of content you currently do and what platform fits that content best. If you're wanting to daily stream then I do not recommend YouTube currently for that, but if you're looking to just stream occasionally and focus on quality event based content than quantity, then YouTube is a perfect platform for that. But you should only think of the streams as supplementary (for now) to the video content that you NEED to produce alongside it (even if there are some question marks over the algorithm when livestreams are on the same channel as videos). Hope that helps anyone thinking about switching platforms/deciding which platform to stream on. Open to any and all questions that you may have!

Youtube needs features that make livestreams more interactive, like the Twitch extensions Sound Alerts or Smart Click Maps. Features that empower the viewer.

Very much appreciate your openness with this video Harris. I'm inclined to agree with you that YouTube will come out on top, of a sort. YouTube still has a really long way to go with the live streaming experience, though I am also saying that as a former Twitch Streamer, so I am likely still looking at YouTube through a purple lens. I'm inclined to think that Twitch will lose though, rather than YouTube win. Twitch has shown themselves to be very short-sighted recently with some of their "initiatives." And I have a feeling that Twitch will drive themselves into the ground, sadly, as I do not wish to see the platform die. It will be interesting to see where it goes for the live streaming platform landscape from here. But I am fairly certain that you will eventually recoup those losses over time as you make content and run your businesses. $150k is a heavy loss, but there's no benefit to thinking about what-ifs. Thanks for sharing.

I’m excited to see how YouTube will evolve when it comes to streaming, seeing as they have a lot of potential. What would help more than anything would be them making it easier for the consumer to notice that someone you’re subscribed to has gone live.

One of my favorite things about your videos is how candid you are. You are honest about not only your income but what you would do differently. Keep up the amazing work!

Definitely still planning on making the full switch to YouTube eventually. Need to solidify the date, especially now that I'm finally posting videos again. You're not kidding when you talk about spreading yourself too thin trying to do everything all at once. Glad to see you always still going at it, though. You're a big inspiration

For whatever it's worth (probably not 100k lol), I've watched you stream more on YouTube than I ever did on Twitch, even though I've followed you on both for 3 or 4 years.

As always, your content is the best, regardless. We all learn a lot from your honest analysis and transparency and it's much appreciated!

Always appreciate your upfront and honest feedback for any level of streamer whether already into it or just starting out. Your thoughts are always appreciated and even if the numbers don't show it you have such a huge following and support behind you.

Thank you. This video really helps. Lost my job in April due to a move to take care of an elderly family member, finally started working towards streaming here on YouTube. Have been applying for regular jobs the last few months and no luck yet (im an IT Specialist). Have applied to 29 different jobs in the last few months.

Going to put all my energy and time to learning more of the platform and building a brand here.

Thanks again 🙏

it's nearly impossible to make a transition like that without suffering some kind of loss, especially when you're moving everything to another platform. it's an investment, you'll be one of the first people dedicated to YouTube Live streaming

Thanks for the insight! YouTube needs to mix the feed with both livestreaming and regular videos; otherwise there is no exposure to new live streaming content. Very occasionally I would see the suggestion for a livestream. It's hard to find YouTube _streamers_ !

What I like most about you is your honesty and transparency. All platforms have ups and downs, and we can't predict the future. We all make good and bad decisions every day; how we deal with them defines us. You are allowing us to learn from your mistakes and help us to maybe bypass those struggles for your future and ours. You have become a part of my daily watch list, and I look forward to your videos.

I truly believe that Youtube is the best place for content creators who want to occasionally stream. Twitch is the best place for somewhat established streamers (more than 20 avg viewers). And Trovo is the best place for small streamers. But this is constantly shifting and changing, so who knows what will happen in the future!

Damn I've been so busy I havnt been on YouTube for a year! Last video I saw was you leaving twitch and my life has been so up and down since this is the first time I've been on YouTube since, God damn, I always watched your videos and used your videos to help me grow on Twitch ( got affiliate in first 9 days and in first month started getting 80 ish avg viewers ) but i stopped streaming and started focusing on my life, working, studying, new family. Ect. I do want to apologize as I used to be a loyal viewer back in alpha gaming, but hey glad to see your alive and doing somewhat better and hope to try catch you around more. Thanks for all the help you've given me and thousands of others to, we all appreciate you ❤️ 🙏

This was incredibly informative. Been watching your journey in the transition this past year and it’s really got my thinking a ton about my channels on both YouTube and Twitch. Thanks for your willingness to take the plunge early on and share all this insight. Have a great day man!
