I feel the exact same way whenever I see chai tea at starbucks or other coffee places. There isn't any harm just calling it chai

fun fact: there are basically two universal words for tea in every language! when tea was being exported around the world from china the character for it was pronounced “cha” inland and “te” in coastal port towns. places that got tea imported through land pronounce it more commonly using the “cha” root while places that got it imported by sea use the “te” root! it’s one of those few things you’ll almost always know the word for in every language.

I love how this joke carries on even later in with The Spot.

Honestly, how incredulous he sounds when he says "CHAI TEA?!" is so relatable

i love how the animation team payed enough attention to detail because miles is so ashamed in himself he keeps pouring and overflows the cup

*Gentleman Miles:* "It was not my intention to offend you, good sir. I was merely utilizing a common English colloquialism that combines our two languages in order to identify the tea as having originated from your culture while still also making it clear to any listening English speakers that the beverage is, in fact, a form of tea. This naming convention is common across most languages and can also be found in phrases like 'rice pilaf, ' 'tuna fish, ' and 'Sahara Desert.'"

Headcanon. This is something that's been bugging him all his life, and Miles saying it just broke the camel's back and caused him to finally rant about it 😅

As a Russian, I didn't know people actually call it "Chai tea" pretty often and didn't get the joke in its full potential.
(Yes in Russian "Chai" also means "tea")

I relate to Miles immediately but *hopelessly* looking for avenues of escape as soon as he realized his mistake

There are 2 versions of this scene. The one I saw has Miles trying to talk over Pav saying “sorry, I’m sorry” but in this one he doesn’t speak until the last few seconds to say “No, no”
