I found an Indian-inspired drink called Chai Tea Latte in America. Was it anything like authentic chai (चाय)in India? I found out!

Basic chai recipe:

Ingredients
1 mug of whole milk (or, ideally, buffalo milk)
2 tsp sugar
1.5 tsp black tea (Tata Tea Gold for an Indian flavour or Tapal Danedar for a Pakistani flavour)
2 or 3 crushed green cardamon pods (grind 'em into a powder for max flavour)

Recipe
1. Add all ingredients to a pot and slowly bring to a boil. Steep it 3-4 times. The colour should be a rich brown.
2. Strain into your mug.
Pro-tip: Pour from a height to get those creamy air bubbles on top.

Chai is a type of tea that originated in India. It typically consists of black tea brewed with a mixture of aromatic Indian spices and herbs, such as cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, ginger, and black pepper. Chai is often prepared with milk and sweetened with sugar or honey, giving it a rich, creamy, and flavourful profile. It can be served hot or cold and is popular not only in India but also in many other parts of the world, often enjoyed as a soothing and comforting beverage.

As an Indian we accept this man as our own

I know some folks chuckle when they hear "Chai Tea, " "Chutney Sauce, " and "Naan Bread." But hey, it's cool because it helps people from other countries learn Hindi words! It's popularising the words.

I think places like Starbucks just use the word "Chai" to make it sound exotic & therefore charge a shed load of money.

What's next, 'coffee coffee' with room for 'cream cream'?

When I lived in the States I didn't like the tea there. However, it was a very different story with the coffee. Loved it... Never had coffee as good as in the States anywhere else in the world. Besides, I like drip coffee just black or with half and half and can't get that in most places outside the States, unless you make your own.

"I found a drink in the US called chai tea" is flipping hilarious as an American because it's literally everywhere 😂 No disrespect at all! But it sounds as funny as "I found a drink in the US called coffee."

I do love that you call it out as a syrup! Although there are some small, non-commercialized coffee shops that do brew their own. It's a shame because you do have to ask.

Best Tea in the world you drink in Sri Lanka ( Ex Ceylon) in Nuwaraeliya mountains. Fine Ceylon Tea is coming from hill area of Nuwaraeliya where the misty and cold mountains are covered with tea plantations.

Need to show this to the wife asap! She’ll be in for a shock haha! Thanks for the recipe! Sounds like a challenge though getting Indian and Pakistani tea in the UK 🤔
Would these be available in Asian supermarkets UK people?

Even coffee taste different in India because they brew it and taste amazing, compared to the west, they say that it's burnt if it's beyond a certain temperature but I like the Indian way
