Tenet Ending Explained & Spoiler Review | How Inversion Works & Ending Theory

"A secret agent embarks on a dangerous, time-bending mission to prevent the start of World War III."

Overall I loved this movie, it was a faced paced action onslaught on the senses. Almost like a Bond suitable for 2020 and with a clever and thoughtful narrative that doesn't bog itself down in the science and asks you to take everything at face value.

Can't wait to buy this move on a blue ray and watch it on reverse.

Can’t wait this to be released and watch all those Tenet scenes deconstructed on YouTube... side by side, played forward, in reverse, etc

To all Harry Potter fans recognizing Fleur Delacour and Cedric Diggory in the movie, has anyone recognized our Gilderoy Lockhart? =)

I watched it on UltraAVX yesterday. I thought it's supposed to have a good sound but the whole movie, the conversations were pretty hard to understand. I wish they had put subtitles on if it were to be like this. Like, didn't they watch it themselves first?

People are attacking this movie temporaral pincer style: both before and after they have seen it.

Loved your explanation. What a great movie. Nolan is a complete genius.

When Sator catches The Protagonist spying on him whilst on the yacht and his goons bloody his nose, Sator says the phrase “We live in a twilight world” to the protagonist. What’s the significance of this? I thought this was a Tenet-group check phrase? Or is this the origin of the phrase that The Protagonist will then go on to use with his recruits?

The reason why Nolan makes things overly complex and buries dialogue in the sound mix is so that you will have to go back multiple times, generating more money for the studio and him.

1.Algorithm inverts the Gun and Bullet,

2.Gun has caused the bullet to go forward

3. Hence you can use the same inverted gun and inverted bullet to pull the bullet that's been fired back into its original state,

Now,

How can I handle the inverted bullet since I never have touched it or caused it to change its entropy

And if I have touched the bullet then the bullets new entropy is of this world, and by touching it I have given it new state of entropy (Cause) so I won't be able to have it back in my hand without throwing it on the ground first, and u can only have it back in my hand if me and the bullet have been inverted in the same plane of existence

So the first scene where John picks up the inverted bullet without even contacting it is not possible since he was not the one who gave that bullet an inverted entropy

"The Scientist" who was with John had changed the bullets entropy by handling the bullet first and if the TeneT rule is applied here then it says that the movement of time is exactly the same in both the worlds,

If you are inverting yourself at the date March 31st then it'll take you exactly 10 days to reach the date March 21st and vice versa so there are no temporal jumps,

So going forward takes the same amount of time as going backwards,

So if you have moved forward then in the same plane if you wish to go backwards you'll take the same path, this relates to the objects not any living creature,

So if the doctor has put the bullet on the table then only she should be able to pick it up in reverse

And once if the object's entropy is changed, then the object acquires a new state of entropy and at that very moment the object losses it's ability to travel in reverse entropy stage,

They didn't explain it, they said don't try to understand it, feel it,

And that's my argument if everything is physical then how can a mental state of another living subject change the position of a physical object

And if this is the case then I should be able to pull anything to my self if I'm in an inverted world like telekinesis

Just finished the movie thank you for your explanation it helped me a lot, just one question does that mean they live in closed loop and all the events will be repeated?

Sator's dead man switch does not 'set off' the Algorithm. The dead man's switch sends an email containing the Algorithm drop location. That's why they need Sator to die after they've made sure the Algorithm has not been buried at the drop location. It's also why Kat killing Sator early didn't 'set off' the Algorithm, as it still wasn't buried yet.

The present is erased if the future people get the Algorithm. This requires it to get to the future in one piece, and for them to know where it is. The explosion buries the algorithm, securing it in place. The dead man's switch sends the location to a secure email address, letting them know where to dig. If only one of these things happens, it's not game over yet.

I find Neils death confusing out of the whole film. Its a sad ending for him.
Can you explain it a bit further?

A gripe i have with the movie is why dident Kate go with a tranq. dart pistol or something on the boat atleast, no need to chat him up and keep him busy from killing himself before the time was right

Just came back from the cinema confused about some parts of the movie. Your vid clarified everything! Definitely one of the best videos on Tenet explanation so far

It seems this movie was made for people to explain to other people. Loved the concept. The confusing bit really wasn't the time inversion. What was confusing was how this was edited and written to be purposefully confusing. Not the time travel stuff which was pretty straight forward (pardon the pun), the confusion was more, who is this guy? Wait, what is going on? Oh look another guy? Wait, what is going on? Arms dealer, Ok, wait what? Where are they going? Oh look a girl, wait what's going on, oh Russian villain ok? Wait he's her, she's his, ? But why would she? Wait why would he? Would've been so much better with a tiny bit of exposition at some point in the movie. Or any kind of character development so I would actually care about Twilight guy going back to die. That was like, hm yeah ok he dies of course. Of course, the guy he was fighting was himself, I think everyone guessed that... Love Nolan but this was a miss. Nolan needs a new gimmick

Who was Sator communicating with in the future?

Who was giving him the locations of the algorithm pieces? Was it future The Protagonist? Ie it happened that way, therefore it must happen that way and future Protagonist was making sure Sator did everything as he had always done them?
