guys the manual is still standard on all trim levels. CVT you need to pay $1200 more. so if you hate the CVT so much just dont get it.

The Lineartronic CVT is not bad on the WRX. Guess which other vehicle uses CVT on a performance vehicle? Nissan's Nismo Juke turbocharged with AWD. So turbocharged engine with CVT does make sense, considering the torque is available at a wide rpm range with a linear feel. The point is this: if you know how to drive a manual transmission car, get the manual version. If you don't know how to drive a manual transmission car, get the CVT or automatic transmission version. Besides today's vehicles are faster from 0 to 60 that car that were made a decade ago.

Just purchased one and I'm perfectly happy with it even though it has the CVT. I drove both in traffic (which im stuck in very often) and was not fond of shifting anymore. Sure the wrx i had when i was 18 was a stick but im bow turning 30. Therefore, this is a nice sporty family car that wont give me a leg workout lol

Love this car! Subaru is really at the top of its game right now. I know some people don't like the design, and no, it's not as pretty as the concept, but I like it. Being a 2014 Forester XT owner, I can attest to the fun factor of the "Sport #" mode. Very responsive and higher revving. As for the review, great job Kelsey, I always appreciate your obvious knowledge and polished presentation.

that cvt is amazing. my girl's 14 forester xt has that cvt with a more eco TCM and once you switch to sports sharp mode, it will shift very very fast, as fast as a dual clutch transmission.

I hope the 2016 WRX comes with bright silver wheels. I really don't like these dark grey wheels. Silver goes well with all the colours. Dark grey goes well with black. Or at least less dark would go well with silver. What do you guys/gals think? Silver wheels or dark grey wheels?

Fuel mileage is way off, should be 21/28. I got a 15 wrx and average 26mpg and on my last long trip I got 30mpg going down the interstate

Either they need to offer a WRX wagon, or add a turbo to the XV crosstrek.

The back end reminds me of the Suzuki Kizashi

With some of the choices they made with this car you would think they were trying to chase away WRX faithfuls...

hi Hitman and Yuelin, how is the braking of the car . I heard the brake is quite soft and you have to step hard for braking... is that true

Does your Subaru make a noise when coming to a complete stop? I think its coming form the CVT automatic trans gearing down. Has anyone ever heard it?

Wow. Subaru really does not want to make dual clutch transmission.

17/23 mpg? More like 26/33. That's the results I've gotten over the course of 15, 000 miles. If I just did highway driving and I set my cruise at 75. I'm looking at 34 mpg or more. DIT makes a huge difference

Offering the CVT opens the car up to more buyers, which means more money subaru can make.  For some unfortunate car enthusiast like myself who don't have the option to drive a stick, the CVT is req. Subaru also claims that their CVT shifts quicker then a dual clutch trans and faster than the Lexus ISF.  The advantages of a CVT is also a light weight combat design.  Still have that nasty taste in your mouth?  get the newly redesigned 6 manual.
