If your light doesn't have white and black wires and only has black wires....one of the wires will be smooth and the other wire will have grooves on it. The smooth wire goes to the black wire and the grooved wire goes to the white wire.

Instead of wire nuts, I prefer wago 221 connectors. I install the connectors to the ceiling side first.
