Sabbath in the New Testament (10 commandments)

In Colossians 216, as an SDA I was taught that that refers to the special festival Sabbath, the feast days, but that is very untrue. it’s referring to the fourth commandment, Paul uses a clear progression, the feasts were annual, that would include something like the Passover, the new moons were monthly, and the sabbath day was weekly. This can be found in other places in the Bible, such as Hosea, first and second second Chronicles, and Ezekiel, the clear progression of festivals, new moons, and Sabbath, which would include yearly, monthly or weekly found in either ascending or descending order throughout the Bible, just like it in Colossians
The symbols only pointed for to Christ, that’s why inverse 11 of Colossians two he also addresses circumcision as being a abolished
Then five versus later, the sabbath day
They were mereshadows that only were pictures that foreshadowed the reality we have in Christ
This also explains why in most word for translations sabbath day is capitalized in Colossians 216 also indicating that it’s the fourth commandment and not a festival sabbath.

I used to use the same verses to keep the sabbath as an SDA . But what it’s talking about there in Hebrews 4 is that the sabbath commandment foreshadowed the rest that we now have in Christ. We have true rest in him from works based righteousness. I know it says that they brought spices and preparation day drew on and Luke, but you have to remember that they didn’t even know at that time that he would race from the dead. They didn’t understand the whole concept yet by any stretch of the imagination everything in the Old Testament foreshadowed Jesus. He is the manna in the ark, the breath of life as John 635 says he has our true Passover lamb and he has our true sabbath rest as hebrews 3-4 describes. We need to also remember that God gave one law to the nation of Israel and the 10 Commandments were part part of that one law. Other laws outside of the 10 Commandments, in the law of Torah otherwise known as the book of the law often explained or interpreted the 10 Commandments for the nation of Israel.
Hebrews 89 and 10 describes how the 10 Commandments were part of the old covenant.
All of the other nine Commandments are given in the new covenant, but not the fourth one because that was the sign of the agreement. For example, agreement we have for the United States is the US Constitution the sign of the agreement is the US flag, in other words it’s the symbol of the constitution reduced to a sign. It was the same with the sabbath for the nation of Israel. All the other 10 Commandments are repeated in the New Testament along with other things that aren’t necessarily on the 10 Commandments, such as drunkenness, debauchery and reveling, etc., but not the fourth commandment because that was the sign of the mosaic Covenant. The covenants God made often had signs, for example, the noaic covenant was the rainbow, the Abraham and Covenant symbol was circumcision and the mosaic covenant symbol was the sabbath
This also explained why the only commandment in the New Testament regarding the sabbath is found in Colossians 216 and 17 where it says the sabbath is abolished, it lists the sabbath with other ritual laws. Remember, the definition of a ceremonial law is an often repeated action, none of the other 10 Commandments are often repeated actions except the weekly sabbath.

I always thought that what many modern Christians call the “Lord’s Day” was the Sabbath.

But even if it’s not capitalized, it’s still refers to the sabbath day, fourth Commandment, for example, check out Mark chapter 3, in the king James version, the word sabbath is not capitalized, but we all know that they’re talking about the sabbath day, the fourth commandment

We dont keep sabbath anymore colossians 2:16 which was Ceremonial. Read entire Hebrews 4 which our new sabbath. We dont rest from a certian day anymore. Now the believers rest from WHICH TRUE REST FOR THE BELIEVER!!

God did not command Christians to keep the Sabbath. It was given to a particular people for a particular time. Careful study and discernment will show this.
