The bill provided no funding. The State is broke. Veto was an easy choice. If the Legislature overrides his veto, then it would have less negative political effect. It’s all about politics.

Good for Newsom. Illegals don't need home ownership as another tie to keeping them here. the program should be tied to CITIZENSHIP. if they want to own a home, do it the right way

Thats because the federal government wont back his proposal. The state would have to fund the program. Which they cant afford.

There are hard working citizens like myself who cannot even get a bank loan to buy a house and they want to give illegals. What about the veterans who fought for this country and are renting and would love to own a house.

Glad someone has a bit of common sense! Illegal immigrants either need to go through the legal process of becoming legal or be deported. We need to house our homeless vets first.
