My mother worked as a store detective years ago and a mother was on the escalator with her small daughter and basically she let her sit on it and it chewed away at her coat amd her bottom.

But the stupidity of letting her sit on it, the escalators have teeth and will chew anything up. Crazy.

My mother never forgot this.

my dad works as a manager at an underground mall with escalators.He once told me that a woman once entered the building with a pet dog, it was tiny.She went on the escalator and did no pick it up, which resulted in terrible consequences.I believe the leash got stuck in the escalator and the dog was squeezed in between the stairs, the blood was flying everywhere and the woman was screaming and crying.Chunks of meat too.. I don’t remember a lot of details from his story but i bet it was horrific.

This kind of reminds me of the time there was a loose panel at the top of an escelator, the employees knew the panel was loose because there is footage of the whole thing. They step on it and its not bolted down so it wobbles hard when they step on it. They tell nobody. A mother steps on it with her toddler and it finally comes loose, she drops into it and tosses her toddler forward. Employees gather the toddler and the mother dies from being ripped down under the escelator.

There was another incident in japan about a escalator having structural issues with the bottom footplate and they knew it yet they still decided to run it until it broke and a person fell in it like quicksand :( 💀
