-------------------------------------------------------------

This is a question that we get A LOT.

How do I continue to maintain and even ADD distance to my drive as I continue to get older?

That's a GREAT question! and in this video we have a GREAT answer!

Yes and amen! So done with some pros telling me I need to turn more. I've been blown up twice, been in multiple vehicular accidents (car, motorcycle and helicopter), plus I played years of high level hockey and football. I've had well over a dozen concussions, and shoulder and spine procedures. None of these things help me turn more! I'm just glad to be standing and able to converse with folks. You try turning past 60° after all that! I still use what's left to get the ball out about 270-280 and play to a 4 hdcp. Your body creates speed with width, leverage and rotation. Through age or impairment, we lose, to some degree, one or more of these elements. So you're right: Maximize the width and leverage your arms can produce. Thanks for this one, gentlemen!

Thanks. At age 82 I have employed the steps put forth here...they really increased distance & I have hit the ball straight & in the intended direction. I am looking for your tutorial on fairway woods & hybrids.

Mike’s recent drill where he does the throw the club drill accomplishes a lot of what you are teaching in this video. I recently started using that drill and added thirty yards to my drive. It puts you on the right plane and gets me to complete a full body turn at the end of the swing.
You guys make a great team.

I am 74 and can relate to everything you are describing in your video. Being a retired mechanical engineer I think in terms of machines, pivots, angular momentum, kinetic energy, and so forth. I have been giving some thought lately to iron Byron and the simple, single pivot motion of the mechanism this machine uses to connect to the club. In human terms, these are the hands. What do you think of emphasizing the ulnar deviation of the hands in the downswing, i.e., the more ulnar the more they mimic a simple pivot like iron Byron and keep the left arm in more linear alignment with the shaft and clubhead. Also, regarding your feet together drill, a variation of this drill is to pull the right foot back (right toe slightly behind left heel) to allow hips to turn more for a longer backswing.
Thanks for the video.

Excellent info and really needed for senior golfers like myself.

You guys need to lock the doors, the day release patient at the door looked menacing.

Great stuff guys, I would only add while practicing the move slowly to also pay attention to the face angle of the club, because to have a success strike the face angle has to match the different path you're giving people with this new move.

Hi. This arm swinging is an idea that Gary Edwin has developed into a swing method he calls the Right Sided Swing. Rod Pampling is probably his most successful player. I found the traditional golf swing impossible to learn but a coach who uses this method was able to get me hitting the ball out of the middle of the clubface and fairly straight. It is essentially a reverse K setup with swing arms. It is claimed to be powerful. But, I have never seen any comparative studies. Certainly Rod was able to get some good results when he was getting older. I am not saying this swing is better than any other. Just that is is simple and has features in common with your tips. Namely feet position, swinging your arms and I think the hips are not as active. Anyway it's the only thing that worked for me so I'm sticking to it. That's is really however I have watched a number of your videos and find them very interesting. Thanks for posting them. Geoff.

This is me all over, 60, arthritis, recovered from a snapped Achilles, thank you for the tips. I've also moved the ball further back in the stance, easier to get to without having to turn the body too much now everything is longer with a high draw.

I like the comment around 6:50 about maintaining extension coming down, with the club head moving away from the target. That's me when I'm hitting it good vs. great Thanks!

Good tips to practice. But I was spooked by the ghost watching from behind the door. Happy Halloween!

Nice job with the explanations for more distance. It should be mentioned that there are tees for all ages and swing speed. I don't play the tips anymore probably lost 70 yards off the tee. From the shorter tees can still make a lot of pars and the occasional birdies are nice

One more thing. I think some pros make the mistake of over-promising results or expect that anyone can swing like Tiger or some other pro. That's just not reasonable or likely to happen. We can all improve, and it takes a student willing to communicate his physical restrictions and expectations, and a pro willing to listen to and work with that student to achieve the student's goals. Driving the ball 230, 240 yards in the fairway is just fine for the average golfer. There's way too many injuries and people quitting the game because they swing out of their shoes and/or lose 10 balls during their 18-hole round. You guys seem to do a good job balancing these things.

I am looking at and designing a number of warm up and related simple exercises for seniors that indeed help and can even mimic what you are suggesting to enhance the flexibility, agility needed by seniors.

If you look at how Couple still hits the ball over 300 yards, he allows his club to swing past his hands

I'm 61. Still out-drive most people. Average about 280. Can pop out 300 if I 'need to'. I'm active and I'm still pretty 'supple'. I ride dirt bikes for fun and that keeps me 'young'.
For me, being accurate is much more important than having distance but it is fun to out-drive guys 1/3 my age.
Now that I can use forward tees in some scrambles is a ton of fun!
