Today Alex and Ben return to the Bedford Autodrome to test the differences between our £50,000 Toyota GR Yaris duo, and see just how well they fare against each other around the track. With Alex's 2025 stock model and Bens 2020 model modded with £20,000 worth of parts, who will come out on top after our 3 challenges, and reign as the superior Toyota GR Yaris?

This channel is like top gear thinking they can change the team and get the same results 😝

Love the new dash. Customisable, easy to read. Proper race car stuff.

The new model is a better starting point for modification as Toyota have done things no modifier could or would do. Even better, leave it alone.

Better is a very subjective term. Better for acceleration or better for longevity? Auto vs manual? Many dimensions: pace or pleasure of driving? I have a mk1 CP which I love. Doesn’t really need modding imho, but the Lichfield Nitron suspension is tempting. Ecu tune? Not sure that the incremental performance outweighs long term risk to the already highly tuned engine. I also run a stage 2 Golf 7R (reliable and with well established tuning market) and that does all the launch and power stuff. But it will never handle like the GR.

Wow, I reply to negative comments in support of the channel, and they get deleted!! Not really helping yourselves here guys: alienating subscribers that actually support you now? Fair enough, I know where I'm not wanted!

Great video guys 👍

That suspension on the modified Yaris looks super trick !

Its crazy amount people are willing to spend on a Yaris, 50k eek

As a road going car to be on track (that yaris has only 2 seats remember) you are not far the price of a cayman gt4, any flavour of lotus you want. Plus track modded 997 911's etc etc.

Or for more road based cars suitable for the odd track day you'd get a very nice M3, C63 etc.

And i would prefer any of them over a yaris gr.

Not dissing video btw very interesting ... i just don't understand why anyone would spend 50k+ on a yaris.

But i guess same people who do already have a 911, Ferrari m3 or whatever...

Ben is a great guy, he offers no nonsense advice and is very knowledgeable.
String Theory are excellent, really recommend them for their work.

Some semi active Tractive suspension would make that older one a winner. They have a stand alone set for the Yaris GR. Also they are cheap in the UK, a Yaris GR is 80k euro in the Netherlands😂

Great vid, thanks for that. The Yaris just doesn't do it for me! This is a second or third car for can think of better ways to spend my £50k! Wishing yourselves & the team around you all the

wow £50, 000 doesn't go far in the uk. compared to what i did with mine.

So... The mods for the engine/transmission on the pre facelift... I didn't hear if they mentioned or simply didn't pay attention. Anyone care to give me the specs?

Bet most of that time was in the tyres

Enjoyed this but think this would have been more interesting with the stock car running the same tyres, even though it's then technically not stock. Thing with the mods is that they detract value from the car and essentially ruin the point of the car in the first place. Still, a fun watch.

Would be more interesting to compare with both being manual, good video though.
