Cheap vs Expensive, is it worth it to spend 8 times as much money for the Aeron? The Herman Miller Aeron and Staples Hyken are the two MOST popular mesh office chairs in the world. These chairs are on two opposite ends of the price spectrum with the Aeron costing around $1,600 fully loaded and the Hyken only costing $200.

One of the most important things to recognize when buying an office chair is if the value there for the price you are paying. In this video, Ryan will explain if it's worth buying the Hyken or upgrading to the much more expensive Aeron.

The Aeron looks great and it's definitely better, but I've seen the Hyken for $165 and based on all of the reviews I've seen I'm not sure the 10x price difference is worth it.

I love watching these reviews! I spend long hours working in front of a computer, and I needed a chair that wouldn't cause me back pain. After watching some reviews in this channel I decided to give Aeron a try and it made a significant difference for my seating experience. Now I can sit long hours without any back pain and completely forget that the chair is there! I think this is the best investment I've made for my working environment and I want to thank this channel for that

Love my Hyken. I’ve had mine for 3 years and it’s been pretty beat up by me and my pets that loved to chew when they were babies. Literally everyone who’s sat in it instantly mentions how comfy they find it and asks where I got it. They’re also shocked when I tell them how cheap it was. Yeah the Herman Miller is definitely better, but at ten times the cost, definitely not even close to a “better bang for your buck” deal.

I’ve been using a gaming chair for almost 4 years now. Leather is cracking. Ordered the Remastered Aeron and it’s coming in less than 24hrs! Can’t wait!

I've had my Hyken for about 3 years and honestly it's not as bad *for me* as I'm seeing other people express. The mesh is loose and the adjustable headrest and lumbar never stay in place, but I can sit in it for 5-6 hours at a time no problem. That's just my experience though. I will probably replace it with something like a Leap 2 or Aeron at some point. Luckily I live like 20 minutes from the Herman Miller headquarters so I have plenty of shopping options near me for refurbs.

I’ve decided I wanted to replace my home office chair after a couple year because the pleather is peeling off and a well ventilated mesh chair would probably be better for our hot and humid summers.

But now I’m learning that $200 for a chair, which is thought was expensive, is actually cheap. And that the Hyken in Canada is actually 350 Canadian Dollars. And that a chair with armrests that can move out of the way (I play guitar) is a pretty rare feature. Seems like I’ll be sitting on my current chair for a while.

I had a Hyken, back when I didn't know anything. It was okay for a couple hours at a time at best. Wifey's using it now, but just bought an Embody that'll come this week. I can't believe she was okay with suffering with it for as long as she did...
I'm moving on to a Haworth Fern myself now. Really, I think buying into a chair that'll last 10+ years is the way to go. Better than spending $200 every few years for cheap and low quality options.
That said, there's most definitely some decent budget options out there. They're just hard to find.

Worked in an office that had the Hyken chair. Hyken is comfortable for short term, e.g. couple of hours, anything more will be uncomfortable. You get what you paid for. Bottom line: don't cheap out unless you enjoy constant neck, shoulder, hip and back pains.

I’d love to know what y’all think of the Nouhaus ergo 3d? It’s priced slightly higher than the staples and seems to be a popular chair online

I wonder WHY high end chairs does not include a plastic or metal anti sliding surface on the seat star surface. It is a detal, as totaly removing armrests, that they just miss every single time.

Where did you get those heather grey 3D panels? I have only seen them in white and black

If you have the $ great. If not it's a stretch for the average home to even spend $200. I'm starting to get more comfortable financially but I know the grind. It's a bit frustrating

Not about the chairs but I love that digital clock you have under your monitors. What brand is that?

Wouldn’t consider the Haken just for the hard inflexible armrests without even considering the other faults… It doesn’t look very durable either, a big consideration: The arm just snapped off my £1000 humanscale chair in about 3 years, turns out it is made of brittle plastic attached to a steel frame… just got Aeron to replace it and am happy so far. It does look quite robust although I’m a little worried what might happen if someone dropped a cigarette end on the mesh seat… fortunately I gave them up some time ago.

The movies are always nice! But I don't know why you always let the chairs high for you. It makes it harder to have the overall comfort and adjustment idea.

I'd love to see a similar video comparing the Clatina Mellet and the LeapV2 and/or Amia.

I'm happy with my Clatina since it fit my company's WFH allowance, but a Leap V2 or Amia is what I hope to replace it with in the coming years.

It can be my problem but I have a very bad tailbone pain just sitting on the hyken for half an hour.
