TransCanada's innovative use of mobile skid technology for leak detection testing on the Keystone Pipeline System was demonstrated consistently for one week in April 2015 near Cowgill, Missouri. Keystone is equipped with thousands of sensors that provide data every five seconds to a high tech oil pipeline control centre in Calgary, Alberta that monitors the pipeline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Through a leak simulation process called "commodity withdrawal," an exercise team made 27 withdrawals under a variety of conditions and flow rates. Early results confirm TransCanada's leak detection sensitivity is being met or exceeded.
