The Keystone pipeline has been shut down because of an oil leak into a Kansas creek Wednesday evening.

This isn't the Keystone XL. It's the Keystone, 2 different things.

An important question yet posed is "why so much oil spilled"? 14, 000 barrels is a *significant* release. When Enbridge had their spill in 2010 it took 17 hours release the 20, 000 barrels from a pipeline that was split wide open. How significant is he damage to the pipe and what's the timeline for the duration of the leak? Something failed. Clearly the pipe wall but also either leak detection or procedure.

Almost like we needed to make a new one with greater capacity and improved safety. We've gotten pretty good at it, and have made technological leaps in environmental protection, but some people refuse to be reasonable.
