"You're over qualified" is corpo-speak for "we can't justify paying you as little as we want to with your work history".

"We don't count internships as experience here, lol"
To their interns: "What do you mean you can't afford to eat? We're paying you with experience!"

I once was asked “what’s your favourite part of working?” during a job interview, I panicked and told them “going home afterwards”. I still somehow managed to get the job.

My favorite stunt companies have pulled with me is when they act like I am an amazing fit during the interview, then send me a message letting me know that they selected someone else who is better qualified for the position, and THEN I keep running into their new job postings which shows that they are still hiring for that same position days and weeks later.

If they say you're "over qualified" it means they don't think they'll be able to take advantage of you like the restof their employees

How TF can you not count internships as experience?! That’s literally ALL they are!

"Broke and desperate people do not make good team members" -- which is a good argument for paying decent wages.

The worst interview I ever went to was one where they completely forgot that I was supposed to come in that day. I was in high school and skipped school with a note from my parents to be able to attend. Then when the interviewer finally got to me after two hours of waiting, she said “let’s take a walk, I need to keep an eye on the store.” And she starts fast walking through the store while I’m practically jogging in heels to keep up with her. Since this was a busy grocery store, it was also very loud, and I had to strain to hear her questions and ask her to repeat them several times. She also would randomly introduce me to different heads of the department (meat market, produce, etc). There was just so much going on that I kept stumbling over my words. Then she remarked that it seemed I didn’t really want this job since I wasn’t paying close attention.

Bitch, I skipped school, showed up in a blazer, and waited several hours *for you*

The 1st meme reminded me of a friend situation. She was hired for a "test drive" for about 2 weeks. For the next week she was working with this company, while her boss was avoiding her at all cost. At the end of the week he casually come to her and ask "You still are here? We didn't hire you".
She was so depressed she wasn't searching for a job for next few months, because she was afraid it may happend again.

One place I applied for and even got an interview for, and I absolutely had the experience for.
“well we don’t think you have enough experience, but you could volunteer for the program”
“so volunteering for the same position that you’re hiring for?”
“…yes”
It was insane to me that in the same interview they rejected me for they suggested I volunteered for that same position. It was quite frustrating.

My wife got headhunted by another company. She called to give her two weeks notice and they asked why she was leaving. She told them that she was offered a significant pay raise of about a third of what she was currently making. The company she works for said that they would beat their offer. My question is why they didn’t pay her what she was worth in the first place.

FAR too many companies just ghost you rather than giving you a formal rejection. That's probably what the "thank you" was for.

I have been unemployed since May and STILL can't find a job. I've only had three interviews this whole time, and two of them ghosted me after saying they would let me know within the week. "people don't want to work". This is exactly why they don't.

I would really like to see what would happen when a recruiter busts out the "We are a family" line and the applicant responded with "Can I stay at your place rent free? You wouldn't charge you family rent, would you?". The result would probably be hilarious and devistating at the same time.

"Jobs should have to disclose the salary in the description" Well in New York that is now the law, but companies are skirting around it by stating like 15-100 an hour. Some of them are so bad, no joke there was one that was between 50, 000 and 145, 000 a year because nowhere in the New York Law says the maximum range

hot tip: you didn't want to work for that company that rejected you for being over qualified, that's a major red flag you should look for when researching companies to apply at, anyone rejecting applicants for being overqualified is looking for disposable workers that don't understand their own value

I been once rejected...Because I am able to get children as a woman...and didn't have children yet...They were afraid I wanted to have children soon because I hadn't them yet at the age of 25. Even after I explained I didn't want to have children they still insisted that this was a huge problem -_- I really didn't know what was overcoming me. It was kinda insulting that I could not have the job just because of the fact that I was able to get pregnant xD

Tip, if a company hires you immediately, run! I got hired at a place on the spot and was thrilled because I needed the money asap... Quit a month later because store manager didn't allow sick days in the food service place of work - we were expected to throw up then get back to serving food - and threatened my well-being when I wanted to leave because I felt sick due to the severe panic attack he gave me that day. I left anyway immediately and went to my current place of work, where my current store manager who took her time choosing me as a hire comforted me

A couple of months ago I had a great interview. One of the interviewers told me straight that she wasn't a feminist. I said 'ok, I am. Should I leave?'
... Lady said yes 🤣

I feel like showing up precisely on time is also actually pretty impressive and generally shows better time management skills than someone who shows up early.
