I’m a beginner, and I was wondering what the tension number you would suggest for people to start at is, and what are the best needles for sewing (do you still switch the type of needles based on fabric? Like if I have a loose fabric do I use the needle that slips through the fabric rather than piercing it?) Hope that all makes sense.

My top stitch looks like your bottom stitch where the thread just lays across the top and the bottom thread is a bunch of dots. Does that mean my bobbin tension is too loose?
