Their Yokai known as Tsukumogami, & I'm so surprised they haven't made the one eyed umbrella Pokemon yet.
Also yes, if your familiar with Yo-kai Watch, their both drawing from the same source, Japan has been collecting monsters since the 1600's.

Of all the stuff from the leaks, there's two things I'm happy about. That Skyla is confirmed to be a Latina and the beta designs of Mars, Jupiter, and Cyrus had it be that Team Galactic were originally going to basically be the Space Mafia.

That meme of how the SS Anne left Kanto, in the anime the cycling road is indeed a bridge with a part that raises to let boat pass. There's even a funny scene of Jessie, James and Meoth trying to jump that raised gap on monocycles only to be blown away by the chimney of a boat.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the stories from the leak were NOT an attempt at actual lore. They were almost certainly WORLDBUILDING EXERCISES!!!

They were likely used to get some initial ideas down that were never intended to be canon. Then, the writers would already be in a creative mindset to work on the actual lore.

I’m personally on the team of “these are literally just rewrites of real folktales with Pokemon swapped in and it’s not a big deal, ” but I don’t blame people for being weirded out by the leaked stories. That said, trying to glean anything about the actual devs from it is stupid, for all we know it was one random lore writer who wrote them, and even if they were written by an actual team they toned the actual lore down in the games. In my eyes no harm no foul
