Choosing between god and science is a bit of a touchy subject. Some people think it is separate, others think god and science are related. Neither answer is incorrect. The correct answer is what makes YOU feel comfortable :)

We use science to study how the universe came to be and how everything works. There are a lot of scientists who make this simple statement, "We don't know what came before the big bang. This is not a reason to say that God started everything though. We see no evidence that God exists but that doesn't necessarily mean that God does not exist."

From my perspective as a Christian who believes in scientific data, when I think of God these days I just think of energy and the formula e=mc squared

Knowing science is the best way to truly understand Gods creation.

A lot of people in the comment section are missing the point. Like Neil said, the problem isnt IF god exists, but what their disciples preach. Some religious beliefs have very bad preachings that are sometimes adopted by entire governments. For example, christianity is almost ok, but it has caused roe v wade to be reversed, making American women miserable. You dont need to think about if god can coexist with science, the most important thing is if their disciples can coexist with society without impacting it for the worse

Carl Sagan has the best quote about science and spirituality in a nutshell to me because if you "believe" in science there is no feasible way you don't believe in God and spirituality too !

he says:

"The notion that science and spirituality are somehow mutually exclusive does a disservice to both."

If you are unable to have faith in science, and God at the same time.. you are just closed-minded. That goes for scientists and religious folks. Man is deep enough to contain both within himself.

Science and religion are not overlapping schools of thought and will easily function indipendently of each other. Most people are religious, most scientists are religious. Things only really come into conflict when religious beliefs contridict reality. And at that point it's not a science vs religion thing. It's religion vs reality.

(I do apologize for potental typos or poor communication. It is quite late and my written word is poor.)

I mean didn’t they do an anonymous study to find out how many scientists believed there is a God and it came back overwhelmingly yes. Even though they also answered the same study that said they thought their peers would devalue them intellectually if they said it out in public.

I have a religious friend who once tole me that "science answers how, religion answers why" and it's a pretty interesting answer imo

Believing in religion is fine until it ask of you things that are unreasonable. At extreme ends os to hate shun or others. Not so obvious to go sell, force on to others, proselytization. There are many such religious beliefs that are anti-social thst left inchecked do more harm than good.

If you believe God made earth then why is it hard to believe he made gravity or a star or anything else in the universe

They are the same, it's just language, those back ... back in the day saw it as the study of God's works, I just leave it there . be it faith or 0 and 1 ...God ; science ..its the Journey, and much like everyone it's the language that combines or separates, just remember nature or God teases us, feeds us little snipits of info to draw closer to the wonder of creation . Yes, they can co exist, because they are both the same, just defined by language .
