I use this machine every single day, and believe me, it sucks for light aluminum so i switch to my old lincoln, but for 1/4" and so forth, its a beast.

My work is replacing these with newer millers and otc daihen welders. I asked if I could get one of them that they were getting rid of and they said sure. Haven't been able to use it yet, but I've used them at work countless hours. very nice welders, but they have probably the worst menu of any welder with this many options. lol They give us 100 options that we have to sift through on an alarm clock from the 80s.

I've tried this mig and pro spots sp5 mig... I work in a body shop and the sp5 replaced our old millers... We gave them a shot with this thing but it sucked... Pro spots is a single knob control for heat/metal thickness... I'm doing steel, bronze, and aluminum at a press of a button

Common miller, why does everything got to be hidden in 15 different menus. Just have it all out there easy to see. I know then it looks cluttered for the newbie welder but there are not many newbie welders that are going to buy this unit. I know what all the settings are and what they do I weld aluminum boats as a job but why do I have to open a hidden menu scroll through it only to find out the setting I want to change is in the other hidden menu scroll through it to finally change the setting. Have it all showing kinda like the dynasty dx models although they still have a hidden menu in thought as well with the wave form and that stuff, it is just a huge pain.

Does it makes any difference if I use AL 6xxx wire. And set the machine to AL 5x ???, or I really have to use either 4xxx or 5xxx Alloy wire only?.

Oh, forgot to add, changing out rollers???? Just how many times is this done on a machine that is set up for Aluminum only? I have been welding for many years and have NEVER just swapped wire sizes for the fun of it. In fact I can't ever think of any time that I have set up a machine and then changed. I set mine up for 035 and there is has never been any feed issue at all with the wire to the liner. Rule #1 of Aluminum MIG welding is to set the drive roll tension light as to not do this. But you would have to know about aluminum welding first.

One major design flaw I see id the LOOONG distance from the drive rollers to the liner feed tip. I can very much assure you there will be some cussing with a wadded up wire there. ESPECIALLY when trying to install 035 alum wire. There needs to be a nylon insert cut to a V pushed right up between the rollers. Next I cant believe that it takes tools to change out the rollers. I have a 15year old welder with a twist lock system that takes seconds to change with no tools. Not exactly a new idea.

Next is push pad selectors for set up rather than a two way toggle switch is very very aggravating. When you are setting up and u want to back up and make a change. YOU CANT. You have to toggle ALL THE WAY AROUND THE PROGRAM AGAIN to get back. I am paying a man 15-20$ a hour I don't want him playing with the welder settings all day. I need him welding

What a needlessly complicated way to setup a machine.
