Love your fun personality Emily. I use Gu's also. I'm just a run for fun/challenge just finish the race guy. My marathon is October 9th in Long Beach. Best wishes for your training for Suffolk. I'll keep watching.

You should give Maurten a try. Although quite expensive they are very easy on my stomach. Also a very neutral taste, not that super sweet stuff that you get tired of quickly.

Enjoyed the training recap! You’re off to a strong start with a positive mindset. Keep hammering!

Love your pressure free mental approach. Long easy runs, at low bpm's, as you know, are great for building out that aerobic engine. Your goal to best Chicago is totally in the bag.

Thank you for sharing Emily (& co-star Ruby), I'm training for October's London Marathon and your approach to your training is really interesting. Good luck getting those miles ground out 🙃

Definitely cheering for you! All of the race calculators told me I should be able to go sub 4 hours in a marathon. I believe my non-marathon times are close to yours. I had three failed attempts with times ranging from 4:38 to 4:40. I slowed down my easy pace to between 10 and 11 min per mile and increased my weekly milage, and then I successfully finished a marathon in under 4 hours. There were a few other things involved, but those two were in my estimation the biggest factors. Thanks for sharing your plans! We all know you can race a strong marathon!!!

Not boring! Love the training log and goals. Chill attitude leads to chill racing. You ‘ve got it! I’m for including shoes you’ve used in daily miles report if not too tedious for you.

Thanks for making these! I actually started making my own Chicago marathon training prep videos inspired by the videos you made last year. The first few are just talking head but this week I’m bringing the camera along :) loving it

Love watching the recap & what a great goal. I followed your Chicago training so it will be interesting to see how your training & race differ. I too had a terrible Chicago in ‘07…my worst to date. I hate gets, but honey stinger gold work well for me.

Sounds like a solid plan for your upcoming Marathon. As for the gels, I used SIS on my last one and in training they worked great, but in the race … not so much. I am now trying HUMA gel and so far they are much easier at race pace. Great recap mid training!!!

Great start to your training Emily! Definitely stick with the easy and moderate runs the first month, then build strength and speed. Smart move moving over to GU for more explosive energy. I love Spring Energy for long, slow plods, but GU and Clif maximize the carb uptake capabilities of your body. I always use fruit and citrus flavors to avoid that gross warm chocolate pudding effect! 😂 Keep pushing!

Sounds like you have a good mindset for your next marathon. Have you tried SIS or maurten gels? They are good stand alone gels that don't require water. Hopefully the weather is not a barrier on your next marathon. Love the ruby content.

I've been experimenting with Skratch a bit, seeing if it works for me. I use it in my water bottles in XCO mountain biking. I figure, if I am carrying water anyway, I won't also have to carry gels. If it doesn't work out, I'll probably use Gu. It really is about finding what works for you.

Thanks for the content!
