The Warpers are eldritch-like creatures in the world of subnautica and while they appear to be mix between an octopus and mantis, they were actually created with alien technology by using parts of both off-world and native animals and serve solely as patrolling predatory beings to hunt prey and enforce the planet’s quarantine. Warpers are able to warp and phase at will and will aggressively attack the player with their mantis like blades, and we find some of our fellow crash survivors were hunted down by these creatures upon landing.

Important information that was left out, they only hunt down lifeforms that are currently infected, in fact at the begining and end of the game, they will fully ignore the player as they are not infected

What's worse is depending on how far along you are with your infection stage, Warpers will deal greater damage at higher infection rates. At max, Warpers can inflict damage almost on par with the predatory Leviathans.

More info: they need to especially be avoided because they’re capable of commanding healthy carnivores to aid it in battle. While they don’t get along with crabsquids they can still convince one to disable your vehicles via their static explosive abilities, and can even unite biters into a pack of five to aid it.
Lore: the precursor race likely saw the sea emperor as a symbol for justice against bacteria, and there’s a theory that they shaped their warpers from the sea emperor. They both have mandibles, mantis like arms, tentacles and even the same amount of eyes. The sea emperors are also very powerful creatures, in one case a sea emperor juvenile swatted aside a reaper to save the player. This also may have played a role in the warpers arm design, not only the symbolic value. There’s also a theory that most of the lifepods have been torn up specifically by warper commanded creatures, (discluding the ones that fell to the ghost leviathans, ) as in one of the logs it says “there’s a grim lookin snake thing tryna eat through the hull!” And once you get to that pod, it’s at the entrance to the jellyshroom caves. Crabsnakes never leave their home and are never found at the entrance so a warper could have recruited one to eat that pod, explaining why it would swim so far from its jellyshroom.

I have severe Thallasophobia thanks to being waterboarded over the course of a week a long time ago, I keep trying to use Subnautica to help, first time I saw the game I had a panic attack like the first time I was taken to the actual Ocean.
I've made some progress, but even trying to watch your gameplay just to keep up with the content is making my skin crawl.

I was _obsessed_ with this game for years after it first released, but unfortunately didn’t have a computer to play it on. So I watched every play through I could find on it hah especially loved Jacksepticeye’s & Markipliers lets-plays.

I was finally able to play it myself when it released on PS4 & man I loved it. I probably had about 500 hours put into it 😅 kinda want to replay it now, it’s been such a long time. — Anyways. Happy to see someone still posting about it 😊 look forward to more subnautica content

How do you make something like this without it becoming an invasive species?

While their warps are pretty fast, best way to navigate around them is to swim in diagonals and avoid staying still if possible. They will occasionally teleport away from you, giving some downtime but it’s best to stay moving. Try to avoid getting stuck if you can, else you’ll likely get warped.
