The amount of empathy it took to write this. If people could just learn to see as deeply as Vedder did when he wrote this (Vedder did most of the writing yeah?), it would help us all so much.

I was a teenager when this song came out. I’m nearly 40 now and just learned that the chorus is “Jeremy spoke in class today”

The “today” part is not clearly said so I’ve always heard “Jeremy’s spoken…..hey heyyy lol 😂

Basicly, due to the extreme lack of attention and affection from mom and dad Jeremy's underdevelopment of empathy resulted in him becoming a narcicistic psychopath. Its more common that we are aware of.
