So the next time a smartass is "asking": "whose putting all these genies in bottles anyway?" You can anti his "joke".

It's amazing how many myths and stories are written about Solomon, it's one thing being called the smartest man in the world, it's also another thing having a 1000 wives, but when the dude casually bodies Asmodeus or some magical beast you know people liked him. I personally love the story where two women fight over a baby and Solomon just goes "sharing is caring, bring me a saw, who's getting the legs?"

So the king went on a drunken bender for 40 days, then sobered up, blamed a djinn, and threw his remaining booze in the ocean. Got it.

Yeah, this is one of the first stories on Thousand and one nights (dunno how they translated the title to english).
One of the jinn, the one released by the fisher, promised himself to give any wish to whoever set him free. As centuries went on, he changed it into just thank his savior, and he was trapped for so long that he decided he'll kill whoever set him free. The fisher tricked the jinn and trapped back in the jar again at the end, haha.

That ring in the fish part would later be used in an episode of Arthur.

I remember the tales of the fisherman and the gin from 1001 Arabian nights. It ends in a nice way actually.

In the Muslim version of the story, he lost it because he died, when king Solomon died, no one knew he was dead, bc djins were so scared of him that
They wouldn’t approach him, until one day one of them was cleaning, and he accidentally touched his feet, Solomon feet fell off, and they realized he was dead, and thus the ring was lost, not due to his negligence or because of trickery, but because he was dead
