What Temperature Is Too Cold For Pouring Concrete?

preview_player
Показать описание
Ideally temperatures for pouring concrete should be above 10 degrees Celsius or 50 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperatures start to dip below these temperatures, the process of curing or hardening the green or new concrete slows down dramatically and is at risk of freezing as temperatures approach or fall below 40F or 4C. If freezing temperatures are reached, the curing process will halt completely and the concrete surface will freeze and fail.

Using a heavy plastic cover or tarp can help to trap the heat that is produces during the curing process if the weather is not too cold, around 10C or 50F. If it is very cold, near freezing, heating blankets could be used to produce the heat needed for the start of the curing process to begin and not freeze that wet, newly poured concrete.

Dude I really appreciate you giving the answer to people's question at the beginning even though you certainly would have been worried that people wouldn't watch the whole video if you didn't hold the information hostage until the end. Due to your scruples, I am going to watch this video all the way through a ton of times and like and share and stuff. Thanks!

Can you show the damage done to concrete poured in freezing temperatures with ice crystals formed and damage ensued. Thanks

Great video. I plan on making large concrete pots planters. Is there a temperature range on heat as well so I don’t have to worry about cracks forming

This one helps as I've been putting off a small decorative slab poor and it's getting chilly. Good info.

I'm mostly going to be interested in full-weight concrete casting. I would like to know more about colorants and other additives. I know you are into the light weight life haha but I'm sure a lot transfers.

Had a contractor say to me he’ll still be pouring all the way to thanksgiving. In my head, I’m like it’s been a average of below 50 degrees.

My neighbor just had a $35, 000 driveway poured 2 days ago. It was 38°F when they poured (daytime) and the temp dropped to 20°F that night (with snow flurries). The next day the temp was a high of 30° & a low of 18°. They never covered it or anything. Is there some special cement that can be poured in cold Michigan weather and still cure? Or are they just screwing him over and the driveway will crack? It's 2 cars wide by about 100' long.

How long should you cover concrete to protect from freeze pops for outside concrete?
