I asked a pro back in the 80s what was the best bike he'd ever ridden. The answer was the one he's getting paid to ride 😉

I really want to know which bikes riders will actually buy with their own money

If the UCI gave a weight limit that was achievable for every team it would level the playing field and reduce costs for teams.

I think the Specialized teams would be a better example. They stopped making and aero bike. Pinarello never had one. Even when most of the manufacturers did.

I am buying Aero Bike but its heavy, but i like how it looks more than its weight.

Lightweight bikes are better for climbing than an Aero bike is, unless you have that monster genetics. Si is indeed correct that Aero and Endurance type almost makes no difference at all with branded bikes.

Pro riders use whatever his sponsor ask them to use, and that depends on what is required to sell

luckilly they give us all that costly stuff or there was no cycling in Europe

So the riders never actually own these bikes?

They pick the non-aero models because they are lighter (closer to 6.8kg), and rim-brake if they can.
This is if they aren't outright told what to ride.
Any extra dampening is removed if that is the case.

"two *veeery different* types of road bike."
Yes, you can have the $10k road bike, or the $10k road bike.

Ineos grenadiers have only one bike because they have the best frame in the world.... And the Pina F cost more than 15k euro

So basically pro rides doesn't have a choice. Also probably more than half of them would choose rimbrake bicycle.

Canyon puts their riders on a Retul bike machine, then sends the specs to Sarto to have a frame made. Their Chinese frames could never handle a pro rider.

But Cavendish just says it's all about me and my endorsement deals and f-ck the sponsor that fitted out the entire team, staff families and gave team swag to hand out to VIPs.. not an important relationship..
