Very interesting, it is rare to find this type of content, I like it when with the little you can have, you can do something. Thank you.

I may have to try this out. Right now i have to use a sub group for analog compression and eq. With the 404 i can use the analog stuff for FOH and run the 4 channels i want to process, independently, and free up my sub group and 4 other channels on the board.

It would cost me less than buying a modern digital mixer and i could keep the setup i have until i decide if i like the digital route, if not, just simply pull 4 plugs and press 4 buttons and im back to analog.

I’ve been searching for how to accomplish this setup years ago and ended up trying it myself 😅 ; which worked.

Great content!! It’s exciting to see someone else actually doing it!

Good stuff. The Behringer UMC latency is pretty good. Super low latency.

Thank you Scott! That was exactly what I was wanting to know. Very helpful and cool idea.

Another question: Do you have any issues with latency coming back from the laptop? I'm assuming it's low enough that it's not noticeable.

Thanks again and here's to a wonderful, gig filled 2023!!🎊🎊🎊

I don't understand how you "insert" something into the same channel. Is there a "pick point" on the channel so the board knows where to pass the signal? A quick "how to" would help. Thank you for sharing!

Question: Can you recommend an interface that would handle 12 channels? I have an Allen & Heath Qu-24 that I'm using the first 12 for FOH. There's a USB-B connector on it, but it's only output OR input, not 2-way. So I'm looking at your setup and would really like to try this if I can find an interface for 12 channels to connect the laptop and use SuperRack Performer on that.

with this setup, does the waves plugin only work on a single-channel or am I able to configure plugins on multiple channels?

Bringing all of that vs bringing a small digital console. Lots of points of failure. Cost? Mackie provided by hotel, your owned laptop & audio interface & 1/4” TS to 1/4” TS insert cables. It is a great solution but a somewhat unelegant setup. I can see this great for solo or duo musicians on a small gig with owned equipment. They can have presets of FX chains for a setlist.

I don't get how the sound gets from the UMC to the speaker...

How do I set this up if I have a basic analog setup with Mixer, graphic EQs and amplifiers?
But I want to run some plugins just for a vocal channel...how does the signal get back into the Mixer to feed it into the FOH...all analog though

Hello thank you for video! Will latency be too much for live vocal performances? I would like to send to stage monitors, preferably some reverb and voice correction, and a de-esser, or would this cause too much latency? I have a M1 macbook and only three singers on stage. Im one of the singers and have to control the board on stage.

I hear the reverb but did not hear everything else

Please measure your latency with actual measurement software such as smaart. I guarantee you it’s more than 5ms. Each A/d conversion will be .3-5ms so that’s .3-5ms input then .3-5ms output. Than the buffer size of the software adds latency. Between .5 - 5ms. It’s very important to measure calculate and adjust other inputs to be aligned at the master buss.

If we could do this at below 5ms latency waves wouldn’t need to sell superrack server.
