The Law of Moses, the Gentiles and Jesus: Hebrew Roots part 2

This may be the most important passage to those who say that all followers of Jesus should be obeying the Law of Moses (sometimes called the Hebrew Roots movement). To be honest, I really can understand why they interpret it that way, even though I disagree. This video will analyze Matthew 5:17-19 and Matthew 28:20 as they relate to the Hebrew Roots teaching as well as looking at some other often misunderstood things about the Law of Moses.
Next week I will pick up where I've left off this week and cover more content from the New Testament on the topic of whether Christians are under the Law.

Next Tuesday I plan to answer the question of what the book of Acts teaches about Gentile believers and obedience to the Law of Moses.

Hello! I cannot tell you how much this video series is helping me. My parents have started transitioning our family into HRM doctrines and I have been distressed and confused. I prayed this morning for clarity. You have been the answer to my prayers! You have blessed me so much! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Mike thank you so much for this teaching! I'm a new believer and I've been juggling these concepts and asking for more and more clarity and understanding. I've come to realize that we are not to follow the law of Moses, but rather the commandments of Jesus and humbly serve the kingdom with unconditional love. This video really helps to solidify that understanding and explain some of the scriptures I was still uncertain about. God bless!

Thank you so much for this video. I'm an Ex Seventh day Adventist and this is a message I pray all of my SDA family and friends could watch and UNDERSTAND. I've also made a few videos about some of the SDA beliefs. But this video of yours is so ON POINT!

I know this is old but Mike I just want you to know I am LOVING this series and also your Roman Catholic series. Your expressions when talking about Jesus and how when he was young he was asking so many questions just had me so giddy. God bless you mike 💙

Thank you so much for your ministry Mike. I’m a new believer and I’ve heard and seen so many in recent years say we need to be following the laws. I asked God for clarity and I ended up getting this in my suggestion to watch and I read Galatians where Paul talks about the law. I know God brought me to you and choosing to read Galatians. Your thoughtfulness in this has helped except the freedom of Christ.

I have been studying the book of Hebrews online with the Jewish Awareness Ministries (a Jewish evangelism ministry). It has taken over a year to go through the entire book of Hebrews. The context of the entire book of Hebrews is Jesus Is Greater.

Christ is truly using you. I appreciate your enthusiasm and excitement for the Word. You are clear, specific and provide proof in context. I have been struggling with my family and their shift of the doctrine which they raised us to believe. It did not sit well with my heart, and I have been searching and praying for answers.

If someone fulfills the obligations of your mortgage contract by paying it off, then we'd think you were insane if you kept acting as if it were still obligatory, and if you kept paying checks to the mortgage company.

"For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1:17.

"Has not Moses given you the Law? Yet not one of you keeps it. Why are you trying to kill Me?” John 7:19.

If we truly are in Christ Jesus and are willing to obey the Spirit, we will have an even more complete law than that of Moses. Meaning that obedience to the teachings of the Spirit will even teach things there is no law written for.

Hi Mike, I would like to re-extend my invite to you to come on my channel (or I can guest appear on your channel - either way) for a discussion about the Law of God. We can discuss the larger over-arching context of what YHWH defines as His Law and what the disciples taught about it in their epistles. I appreciate your conviction and what you're hoping to present, but there are some rather large ideas you've not addressed in this livestream tonight. I will be glad to comment (and more importantly exegete from the Torah) on Hebrews chapter 8-11 with you.

I'm willing to discuss your main points with you as I've already offered in my initial FB message to you last month. Obviously, the comment section on your video isn't the appropriate place for it, but thankfully we both have channel's for our viewers to be edified. I know you previously said I can use your videos in a rebuttal, but I feel that would only increase the divide and strain the acquaintance.

Bless you, brother.

Thank you Mike for taking the time to do these videos it is greatly appreciated. I have three quick questions.
1. I am a Christian who keeps the 10 Commandments. Are you saying it is unnecessary for me to keep the 10 Commandments?
2. How do we define sin without the Law/Commandments?
3. The following New Testament verses appear to indicate that we should be keeping the Commandments. John 14:15, John 15:10, Rom. 2:13, Rom. 3:31, Rom. 7:7, Rom. 7:12-14, Rom. 8:7, 1 Tim. 3:16-17, Heb. 8:10, 1 John 2:3-6, 1 John 3:4, 1 John 3:22-24, 1 John 5:2-3, 2 John 6, Rev. 12:17, Rev. 14:12, Rev. 22:14. I was wondering if you had planned on addressing any of these scriptures?
PS I have appreciated the way you and 119 Ministries have interacted on this subject it is nice so see people with different views interact in a spirit of love
Thanks again. Lily

I understand that “To fulfil and abolish the law” was rabbinic augmentation back in the day (David Biven, ‘understanding the difficult words of Jesus’)
And basically He was saying, ‘I did not come to misinterpret the law, (destroy) but to interpret (fulfil) it correctly.”
Obviously when He chastised the Pharisees’ manmade traditions he accused them of abolishing Gods commands in favor of their traditions.

Until All is accomplished. And what were Jesus’ words on the cross?
“It is accomplished.” Amen! Praise Jesus!

I watch your translation videos bc I do translation work. I'm also a synagogue president.

I'm not going to give an opinion on Christian theology, but will say we get Hebrew roots people coming in wanting to convert on a nearly annual basis.

We're always happy to accept people, but they are usually sad folks who've estranged themselves from their families and are coming to us bc of tortured logical twists rather than any real knowledge of the Jewish faith.

My standing order to our congregational rabbi is, for pastoral reasons, before embarking on any conversion program, to ask them to read books on Christian history that walk them from the apostles to the apostolic fathers to the church fathers showing who's who's student so they see there's no mysterious break in history where the Church ceased being Jewish and became Paganized, which is one of their beliefs.

Otherwise they end up shattered people stuck in a religion they don't really want to be part of bc they felt another religion wanted them to do that. It's a disaster.

I have found this topic a non stop search among others also. When we read scripture like these saying things like my law will be in their hearts and minds or within his people, or that we must worship in spirit and truth, and since the law is referred to as the truth, it is sure we are at least under some sort of law of the Most High. One terrifying scripture could be "depart from me you who work iniquity or lawlessness". I spirituality have found comfort in that I have found myself and others in a constant search for what is the law or even better what is it that our Lord expects of us. In the true desire to please the one true God, this devotion should turn into a lifelong, maybe you could say quest or search, of Scriptures other people's and our own Revelation, testing spirits, non stop prayer and fasting and studying to show thyself approved, improving the walk, and keeping the greatest of the commands (loving God and thy neighbor)causes those who truly seek to grow closer to an answer may find even better, a relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to where his sheep will begin to actually hear his voice and become his "friends" John 15:14 for keeping his commands and acting in Faith. It is truly amazing to see the hearts of his children seeking him, because he called us first. My advise simply would be do more if you possibly can and seek his face with all you have, lose your life for his namesake, and remember other brothers and sisters may be at a different place than us but we all make up one body, so love and encourage each other as Christ did and does for us. Our Father has always wanted a people who seek to be his people and he will be our God. Love the Lord God with all your heart, mind, body, and spirit, all the rest will follow. Much love to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Be strong and of good courage!

This is a very timely teaching for me as I just read Acts 15 last month for the first time and found solace in it. I was so encouraged by what I read, I eagerly shared it with my wife, mom, and a small group of men from my church (so I got to preach a little... Yay!). The Holy Spirit in us will lead us along paths of righteousness for His name's sake. However, for external boundaries (law) for the Gentiles, the Church founders present these:

Therefore my judgment is that we should not trouble those of the Gentiles who turn to God, but should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by idols, and from sexual immorality, and from what has been strangled, and from blood.
Acts 15:19‭-‬20 ESV
