The Chosen REVEALS “I am the Law of Moses” Influence

@TheChosenSeries recently released their season 3 trailer, and in it, there is a quote from the actor who plays Jesus, saying, "I am the Law of Moses" to which, some, such as @WretchedNetwork , have claimed it comes directly from the Book of Mormon, confirming a LDS theological influence. But is that really the case? In this video, I discuss just that.

So appreciate this thoughtful approach. We don’t mind criticism or debate. What we reject is mind-reading and inaccuracies, which are in abundance in this current controversy.

What’s ironic is that the scene our quote is from (Jesus being rejected in his hometown synagogue) is probably the most explicit scene of Christ establishing his lordship and exclusive role as Savior in the entire show.

I love that you brought up how we underestimate our sin nature and we want to look for a bad guy but want to be on the opposite side, the "right, " side. this was super eye opening to me and I'm going to try to be more aware of it in my own life. strange how this conversation about a show is bringing around this wonderful ministering moment. Too many people are trying to play the part of The Holy Spirit. I’ve come out of a hand full of false teachers in my first year as a new Believer, and each time it was the protection, discernment and conviction of The Holy Spirit that pulled me out, not others pointing it out. Each time He rescued me, I felt overwhelmed and amazed by His love for me, and it has drawn me even closer in my trust and intimacy with Him. He uses everything for His glory.

As an Ex Mormon now Christian. I can understand the distain towards LDS theology but we need to properly discern

Angel Studios does not take creative control of our projects-- we connect our creators with their crowd and that's all. I absolutely LOVE the way you address this! You and I think a lot alike on so many issues—it shouldn’t be surprising being that it all comes from the same Bible. I love how you filter pop culture and attitudes through that lens and do your research to gain the most insight. People don’t really bother doing that anymore even with so much information at their fingertips!

Somehow you remind me how I used to try to encourage my teens to do develop discernment by making them write 5 “good” things and 5 “bad” things according to Scripture with any episode they watched on TV, based on the verse in Isaiah 5:20. It was a way for them to earn the “right” to watch stuff that didn’t exactly pass the Philippines 4:8 criteria. I figured I couldn’t shelter them from the world so I might as well equip them to discern it’s false messages. They are adults now and strong believers so I think that’s one effort that helped. It’s all by God’s Grace, though!
