I'm glad this was one of the rare movies where the aliens don't just attack earth.

The true power of a man is not his riches or land but his ability to understand that around him

The most realistic part of this film is how the militaries of the world decided that they would just attack the non hostile aliens for lack of understanding.

Arrival and interstellar. Probably the two best sci-fi movies of the 2010s.

This was a highly original alien flick.Very refreshing to see creativity like this on the big screen.

This film uses elements from a hypothesis known as “Block Time”. She doesn’t see “into the future”, or the past. She perceives all of her timeline at once, as a whole. She appears to be able to focus on a particular point in her timeline, giving her the illusion of “now”. Her “now” can be any point, or all in compassing, depending on how she is choosing to view it. At least that’s the way I see this, which is due to my exposure to the block time hypothesis.

This was a visually stunning film. Which is directed by the same man who did Blade Runner 2049.

I am among the many who loved this movie. I found in it a sign of hope that we wouldn't destroy a thing just because we didn't understand it. How are we to be sure an entity is dangerous, hostile or peaceful and harmonious? I hope when the time does come, and I know it will, that we will have the knowedge to find difference.

The answer to me seemed very clear after watching the movie. There were only two things humans were better at than the heptopods

Killing: this breaks down into two possiblilities as to why the heptopods need our help they either need help killing an even more violent race than humans or they need to prevent humans from killing the heptopods 3000 years in the future.
Algebra: the heptopods can't see end answers to problems they can't solve. As they can see time as a whole they can only see solutions to problems they eventually can solve. Think of seeing the back page of a math book with all the answers already completed. The heptopods know how to answer problems correctly but not truly solve the problems. Or they see all the steps of the problem being solved simultaneously, yet algebra requires sequential solving.

Can you imagine what it would feel like to be able to think of a story this original and compelling? Such a good movie

I vaguely understood the twist that happened at the end before I watched Arrival, but the story was portrayed so well that I had forgotten it and was shocked all over again. This movie is amazing. Editing, performance, visuals. All top notch and underrated.

We seriously need more sci-fi/cosmic horror movies in the industry.

I thought it was interesting that Louise and her husbands falling out following Hannahs diognosis was down to the revelation that she knew about it before Hannah was conceved, but hid the fact.

I loved that the underlying theme was the circular\eternal nature of time itself. As you said, Hannah being a palindrome, the flashbacks\flashforwards that Louise sees, and even the similarity of the language and the Ourobos, hinting at the never-ending cycle of it. This is such a beautiful film, on so many levels.
