SPOILERS: I think one big part that people temd to have missed out from the ending is that the Chinese general (in the future) has also learned to experience time the same way she does. Therefore he already knows what she told him in the past and that what she told him was from his future self. He's closing the loop as they are both living the same two moments at the same "time".

It makes perfect sense that the aliens wouldn't comprehend algebra or any of our mathematics because they do not experience time in a linear fashion, and all of our math is procedural, step by step processes. They would just see a jumble of numbers and symbols all at once, not a series of instructions.
