Dr Zoe Explores The Debate Behind Painkillers vs Cannabis | This Morning

New research has highlighted the UK’s escalating dependence on painkillers, with more than one in ten Brits relying on the medication to just get through the day. But as doctors warn of the worrying long-term health effects of taking paracetamol daily - could medical marijuana be the answer? Despite being legalised in the UK over five years ago, chronic pain sufferers are still unable to get cannabis prescriptions through their GP. Today, we're joined by Hannah Deacon - who's campaigning for greater access to the drug after seeing the huge difference it’s made to her son, Alfie Dingley - alongside Dr Zoe.

The amount of people in my chronic disability groups who have taken out a monthly private medicinal marijuana prescription, & who have told their stories of how much it’s helped them come off of many, MANY of their medications, given them a better quality of life etc is insane. I can’t believe we’re still in the dark ages with this here in the UK. So glad to see Alfie looking well, I remember the original campaign x

What I will say is as an adult cannabis patent in the uk constantly having advocates only for children. Only talking about oil causes stigma againsed adult patents who are issued flower. If all the general public and anyone watching tv heard is oil oil oil. There is no wonder the police are still called for parents taking there medication in the uk. Lack of educating the public on flower avalable and pushing oil and for children constantly is damaging and causing more confusion.

It’s great to see This Morning bringing medical cannabis agenda to the forefront; but I just wish there was better information provided — this segment makes medical cannabis seem so difficult to access privately, and yet it’s not. It’s only the NHS that is lagging behind because it is severely underfunded; NICE policy makers and politicians are neglecting the issue.
