New Ford Ranger v Toyota Hilux: OFF-ROAD RACE!

Mat and Yianni have gone head-to-head in SO many drag races, but this is the first time they’re facing off in an off-road challenge!

We’ve got Mat in the new Ford Ranger, and he’s going up against Yianni in a Toyota Hilux!

So let’s see how they compare. Starting with the new Ford Ranger, it’s powered by a 2-litre twin-turbo diesel, that can produce 205hp and 500Nm of torque. It comes with a switchable AWD system as well as a locking rear differential. It weighs in at around 2,400kg, and it costs from £39,000.

Next up it’s the Hilux. This is equipped with a 2.8-litre turbo Diesel engine that can put down 204hp and 420Nm. It also comes with some off-road capabilities, including a locking rear differential. It’s lighter than the Ford, at 2,100kg, but it’s also a bit more expensive, at £44,000.

tyres make such a difference and for the hilux to do that well on regular tyres vs the ranger on off road tyres shows just how good it is

To activate Hill Descent Control on the Hilux 2022 you need to be in H4 not L4 (and HDC light not flashing). Used it today and it's pretty slow down the hills.

Considering the Toyota also had more weight and worse centre of gravity with the tent on top and the ranger had better off road tyres the Toyota did extremely well.

Yianni's expression while the side step was scratching against the stone says how much he care about the cars and also being first time for the off road challenges he was nervous and his excitement was crazy. And with manual mode he made it... Always love to see Yianni in carwow... ❤️❤️❤️

The Hilux running on standard HT tyres more than deserves the win. Those tyres on the Ford are such a HUGE advantage on these muddy conditions.
