After watching a lot of your videos I decided to get in the HVAC industry. I got my EPA universal certification and bought most of the tools you recommend on your other video. I just got offered a service tech position at my local company. I just wanted to say thank you, your videos mean a lot.

The best advice I can give to anyone considering an hvac apprenticeship: 1-Don’t bother with a technical institute, its a complete waste of money, just go straight to a contractor and apply for an apprenticeship position. 2-invest in tools, you dont need to show up as the Snap-On guy, but at least have basic hand tools. 3-Keep your mouth shut, and your ears open. Currently, the industry is hurting for good employees that show up on time, put out quality work, and don’t constantly call out of work. Dont just settle with your journeymans license, go for your contractors license, OSHA-10, 30, EPA-Universal, Aerial lift certification, get shop experience, residential, commercial, and industrial experience, and invest in yourself. Become an “A” mechanic, take pride in your work, do things once, do it right, do it by the book, and stay away from “hacks”. The best advice I was ever given: “You can’t soar like an eagle when you surround yourself with turkeys.” True story. 🇺🇸

I'm about to turn 30 and start my 1st day as an apprentice. I've bounced around many careers since I got out of the.military, I dont care about hours or pay, I just want to feel useful and that I accomplished something rewarding at the end of the day.
I hate when I go home and feel like I've wasted another day at a dead end job

I had my first official day with my HVAC company! I love it so far!

Anyone that’s nervous, relax!
Do what you have to do and take your time but be efficient!
Don’t know something ask, double check! They rather have you ask twice vs doing it wrong...
Slowly add to the tool collection, a good box cutter, pipe cutter, Pen/Marker and a tape measure would be good right off the bat!

Good luck everyone! Remember positivity is key!

Well said, I too am a creation of my mentors. We owe so much to men who teach boys how to provide for their families.

Awesome video. I’ll never forget 1st day on the job. It’s night and day from what school teaches you. Been doing installs for 5 years with doing service when slow on installs.

First day I almost died, tech told me to unplug a 3phase extension lead. The thing was welded closed.. so hard to open so stood on one end and pulled it apart. Cable came out of the terminal and came in contact with another phase. Blew up around a foot from my chest.. never disconnected one since with out power being shut off first

I’m 23 years old and am starting in the summer at an apprenticeship program. I don’t know anything about hvac. Just planning on paying very close attention and working hard.

I’m glad I watched this. I’m attending MCTI in February to get my EPA 608 and then am hoping to find an apprenticeship. I’m loving everything you’re talking about, it sounds like HVAC is a mix of quickness and precision combined with troubleshooting. I was an audio engineer and bartender prior to this next venture, and after seeing your demeanor and hearing your previous experience, I think I’m going to fit right in with the HVAC brotherhood.

Starting my first day as an apprentice next week. Extremely nervous but dedicated to learning. Quitting a dead end yet comfortable job for this new chapter in life.

I’m an hvac student about to start applying for apprenticeships. This made me feel so much better about what they might expect from me. I put way too much pressure on myself to be an expert when I’ve only been using the skills for 2 months, and on top of that, have about 0 mechanical/electrical experience. I’m excited to begin my new career and do some satisfying work!!!

I’m 21 years old about to turn 22 in 2 weeks and I’m currently sitting in a restaurant waiting for the rest of the crew, I was doing basic janitorial work when I graduated highschool when I was 18. Pretty much Wasted 4 years almost not growing mentally and learning anything worth knowledgeable. I’m excited obviously nervous right in this moment but I’m confident that my drive will get me far
