Our local council banned England world cup matches on the big screens in the town but played all the other matches, same time celebrating Ramadan and changing the word Easter to celebration, councils are actively banning British/englishness

The over-reach by local government is unacceptable. Vote them out

I'm not a Royalist but people should be allowed to celebrate. I can understand the need for procedure when streets will be used but Park? Ridiculous to prevent a national celebration.

Councils are turning into something that our nation stands against.

I hope those who wish to celebrate, celebrate and that the those in "Power" within councils who prevent it are named and shamed.

Long live Democracy!

Keep up the good work, good man!

Just don't tell them. You can't stop a spontaneous gathering.

Love the way everything has to be authorised now.

NOT everybody will be celebrating the King's Coronation. Can you imagine Sadiq Khan and his cronies waving their Union Jack's? We are having our Britishness removed from us with every passing day. BTW - Happy St George's Day!

Can't imagine any local councils banning any minority's celebration's somehow 🤔

I remember William and Catherine's wedding and David Cameron was PM and councils were doing the same thing then - banning celebrations. the PM went on TV and said - "I am the PM and I am telling you, you can have party to celebrate the wedding" Probably the only good thing he ever said.

I'm no royalist BUT, the council overreach in this regard is at the least petty, and at the worst authoritarian. Anyone in one of these "Petty council regions" should take this on board when deciding on their vote in the upcomming local elections, In my humble opinion.

Council Officers love the power they think they have.

alas Britain is no longer Britain, with the influx of non-British Nationals, even getting onto councils (especially Labour, allegedly)... hence British celebrations are replaced by 'others' 😞

At a village near me for a Royal event they were told no bunting a while back but bunting then ran all the way through the village and they had some jazz on the church grounds and the pub had a fairground test your strength machine. In my experience locals just do their own thing anyway. It was great with kids and adults celebrating by waving Union jacks and eating cake. I am sure it will be same again for the Coronation.

What right does a council have to ban picnics... and what are they going to do about it, if you do it anyway ?

How exactly are they going to enforce a ban! Half the country will be celebrating!

There were lights and decorations to
Celebrate ramadan ; did this need a Council authorization, if did, why was it seen as acceptable that public taxes would pay for it, but coronation parties aren’t allowed? This is incomprensible!
