Here are my thoughts on the preseason items, and what to expect as we get into Season 13.

Until now, the testing I've given to tank items makes me go BC first, maybe zeal, and then Heartsteel. I feel that for a champ like Garen, it's difficult to proc the passive many times in lane phase, as you are willing to soak some damage while approaching, just for an AA and then retreat, because as it only gives health, you can't stay close and try to fight. Heartsteel shines when the skirmishes are ending and full blown teamfights start happening, so having secured some damage early in the game and maybe some gold from kills benefits Garen more. and other times I just rush Stridebreaker and spin on them >:D

What's your opinion on Iceborn? I feel like it works well in situation where your team needs you to be more tanky while not removing any important item power spikes.

In my opinion, the problem with the build shown in the video is that Garen's burst capabilities are significantly decreased, making you weaker in teamfights. Titanic Hydra would be worth considering as a 4th/5th item, but not any earlier as bear in mind heartsteel cripples garen's gapclose and sticking abilities, and you need to compensate for it with your following items.

Nice guide Riste, good point on accomodating your tank items around the enemy team instead of just going for the most gold efficient on paper.

I wanted to ask you what do you think about Frozen Heart on Garen vs a heavy auto attack comp, most people i talk about this always retort that the mana is a wasted stat on Garen but i feel the passive + armour makes it really enticing vs the likes of Trynd/Jax/Yone/Irelia top, specially if they have like a Viego/Graves jg who also gets crippled by it.

Hi riste.
I know it's kinda dumb but what do you think of building Abyssal Mask (to reduce opponents MR that stacks but capped) along with Sunfire Cape to amplify the magic damage together with the hp draining from Jak Sho? Maybe if your team is mostly ad team comp?

Yes demacia garen mains rejoyce thank u I just been tryna figure this out.. What u think of heartsteel streaks spirit visage combo, take the shield heal rune for like 35% edits: what about blackcleaver instead of mortal for dps and like 75% team armor pen? (does it work like that)

I like crit on Garen .. i rush bersekers and then i rush zeal and with this i can kill Orn or Sejuani with few e and q kombos so i dont think tank builds will be better then crit build
