One unexpected side effect to wearing masks for the last two years? It has greatly reduced my allergy symptoms! Still have them, but ragweed season and cedar season weren’t the nightmare they usually were.

Never had allergies as a child, gave birth to my son who is allergic to life aka meds, pollen, insect bites etc and 💥 my allergies began. Dust is my nemesis; all year round meds, nasal spray, eye drops & steroid creams for contact dermatitis. So much fun!!

I have a hyper-allergenic cat. He causes reactions even in some people who generally don't have problems with cats (like my younger sister). He's also a major cuddle-bug, so it's a struggle to balance giving him the affection he needs and not having my symptoms become unbearable even with meds.

I definitely have allergies to flowers when they are indoors. The worst are lilies. The ornamental plant called the Peace Lily put me into the hospital with ultra-severe headaches (and I have migraines — these were worse. I finally figured out it was the white lily that blooms on the plant.

Whoever said allergy shots don't work are silly. Not only do I feel more comfortable around shots, but now I can eat things that I've never been able to before! My allergy isn't severe, but is pretty broad (most fruit, some nuts, some veggies). I haven't been able to eat apples for 9 years because my reaction was so not worth it, but now I kinda can! Super great, pink ladies are my favorite (least reaction and great taste)

Used to have a slight allergy to my cat, my skin went red every time my cat touched me (especially on chest/neck area), but two years ago, the same cat, the same me - allergy gone. Still don’t know why and how. Happy me and happy cat though

immunotherapy absolutely works. i saw huge reduction in symptoms even after only 1 year. my allergist had me self-administering my shots at home, so i only had to visit the office every few months.

I have allergies and I have a cat. What helped me is an industrial active carbon filter. They are in the mid-range cheep.
600m³/h ACF = 100€
and a silent Fan is around 150€-250€.
(Loud ones are around 60€)

You need to wash the prefilter every 3 Month and buy a new Active-Carbon-Filter every year. It improves the air quality massively. Industrial ones are not so pretty, but way cheaper and more powerful than any fancy consumer model.

I will continue to wear my mask in public indefinitely. It helps my vast types of allergies. I tried the immunotherapy shots and unfortunately it didn’t end well. I ended up in the emergency room in anaphylaxis. I am also allergic to many things so that could be why.

All grasses and all weeds are flowering plants, as are most trees. Maybe they mean ornamental flowers or something, but most of the common pollen allergens are definitely angiosperms (flowering plants).

Also some of the largest pollen, from conifers, actually spreads the farthest, due to the winged shaped of their pollen.

As a kid, I was diagnosed having dust allergies, when I was in high school I needed to commute to go to school, my cough never went away (itchy throat) and my asthma attacks were frequent. When pandemic came, we were required to wear masks, and rarely have attacks.

Finally my favorite series, I had only one allergic reaction to a flower a long time ago I was at my aunt and uncle's place along with my siblings along a creek we were playing by the creek and I found a pretty flower it was a pale pink that's all I can remember and I rubbed it yeah I know and thought nothing of it and later we left and the next day my face was swollen and I stayed home from school and Mom took me to the doctor he was stunned this was after she called him.

I had allergy testing done at age 12 and was a 4/5 on the chart for cat dander yet I’ve lived with cats my entire life without issue… until I got one of my current cats, Jasnah. For whatever reason, she triggers my asthma like crazy.

'Hypo' means 'little' so even though there is no 100%, if it is still less, they are hypoallergenic

My first ever tree pollen allergy, was my worst. I felt completely normal while outside, and then as soon as I came back inside, I felt very congested. And then the next day, I almost felt sick, I was coughing, had constant ear pressure, cycling between wet and dry sneezing, postnasal drip, only thing I didn't have was a sore throat. That lasted for a week. And then right after, I had a cold, which meant for me, no more postnasal drip, no more constant sneezing, no more ear pressure, and my throat became sore. That was in my teenage years.

Over the years, these allergies have been steadily lasting longer and longer, but they've also been getting milder and milder, to the point where all I felt this year was a constant eye itch from Late February-Mid June. Several years after I started getting tree pollen allergies, I started getting ragweed pollen allergies. They are usually at their worst from Late August - Early September, although I will get on and off symptoms sometimes into November.

July is generally an allergy free month for me, as are December and January. February, October, and November, sometimes I have allergies, sometimes I don't. March-June, always have allergies, same for August and September.
