Thx for the video. I ran into same issue in the past. Paid someone to fix it. I could have done it myself. Now I need to get myself that Multi-tool. 👍😄

Those oscillating tools are amazing, how I wish I had them in Property Maintenance at the time.
Dustin/Home Mender, have you ever heard of ReSecure Latch? This new door hardware would come in handy with what you do with repairs. Come check out how it works inside the doors bore hole and sits alongside the door latch or deadbolt.

I just fixed a jamb today, but I didn't have my multi tool with me, which would have made it faster. I used a circular saw, reciprocating saw and drill. So I went ahead and was very careful to cut out two striker plate areas on the jamb plane and repair it using a piece cut from a two by four. I did have to cut into some of the inside door trim in order to make the cuts without hurting the door seal and drywall.

One gentle kick and that block of wood you hammered into the frame will pop right out. The only thing holding it in there from horizontal force is that tiny strip of wood left behind when you cut out the hole with your multi-tool. What am I missing?

Just what I needed! Thanks for the videos!

How secure is that, wouldn't one hard kick would knock the block out? Or is it fixed with longer screws?

This is just what I needed to know. Bought a keypad deadbolt and it didn’t line up with the existing strike hole. Now just gotta get that saw tool...

My daughter and her fiance' just bought a house and the catch for the front door knob is not aligned right because you have to slam the door really hard to get it to catch. Same fix as with the deadbolt? Thanks again, Dustin for a helpful video!
