Thanks for the shout-out Tom. Looked like a nice warm day in Port Mac.

On long trips it would behove you to try and arrive with a low state of charge and only charge enough to arrive at your next stop with a reasonably low buffer. Not charging too high each stop will save you a LOT of time - especially these crazy high 90s! Even if you have to make an extra stop you will complete a long journey much faster this way. Ask Bjorn :)

Great walk team Ludicrous another super real world informative video. The charge network seems to grow by the week.

I do wish Tesla could address the significant battery drain when sentry is on. My Eufy home security cameras are wireless and use four 18650 lithium ion batteries and one charge lasts a whole year! They are on the whole time detecting motion and recording events. This Tesla feature was added on long after the cars release in a software update and I'm sure the camera and computing systems are not optimised for security use as it was probably never envisaged to perform this function. This is now a must have feature of Teslas so I hope they redesign the system in future model updates.

I think preconditioning is important for cold climates but on the eastern seaboard of Australia it shouldn’t really matter much as you found out.
Your efficiency rate is exactly the same as my average @ 150w/km and I live about 1000kms further north from you.
Interesting video! Love your channel!

Cool you stayed in Port Macquarie Tom! How did u find it? There are new public destination EV chargers installed in Lord St behind the council opposite pizza, fish'n'chip & barber shops...near public pool, library, beach

Good to see the Chargefox working. I stopped here on Dec 28th last year heading back to Brisbane from Sydney in my M3LR and it wasn’t working. The Tesla Superchargers at Cassegrain winery just a few minutes up the road saved my butt as I had a low battery at the time. Cassegrain is a good stop point (once) but it would be pretty tedious if it was the only charge spot in Port Macquarie.

Good to see they finally fixed the second charger there at the port Macquarie servo. One was completely missing when i eas on my waty too/from fully charged in Sydney. Got a peak of 170kw on my 2021 M3 LR there which was super nice

Has Sails at Port Macquarie been re-juvinated. We were there a while ago and it was a bit tired. It's looking good in the video

Interesting. Our Model Y RWD (LFP) has driven a little more than 6K km with and avg 149wh/km. It is mostly motorway/highway speed at 110-130kph and since May this year. If the on board battery consumption graph is correct then we use 80-110wh/km when driving 0-80kph in summer. So far I'm very satisfied and looking forward to winter to see how bad the weather affects the battery. Compared to my previous Ford Fiesta the could travel 18km per litre at the price of AUD $2.98 and I can travel between 31, 42 - 180 km in the Tesla for the same amount. 31, 42 with Supercharger and anything else with home charging.

Great content as always Tom, Thank you

Excellent episode. Would you consider doing a test of efficiency at different highway speeds? It’d be great to know what efficiency gains you’d see by sticking at or below 100km on the highway, l compared to the speed limit of 110km or below.

Just did 750km, mostly highway with our M3LR. 131wh/km. However, 3 kids 17, 19, 21 in the back for the last part. Wished for the Model Y at that stage! The 3 is not a great family car once kids get into the teens.

Would love a colour comparison between the blue and the black in different lighting as well as any comments on quality differences, noticeable damage, ease to keep clean etc 😁

Hi Tom, love your very informative and well researched video blogs. Well done. I did notice something intriguing in this video that I wanted to know more about. How did you manage to display your LF badge logo alongside your TT profile on the touch screen? Impressive.

May I know the Tesla supercharger has 2 cables - the top one is dedicated to Tesla EVs and the bottom one is CCS2 for non-Tesla EVs, correct ?
Nice demonstration of range etc on Model 3 & Model Y Tom. Keep it up. Cheers

I was charging my new model 3 for the first time at a tesla supercharger and it was only charging at kw at around 95%

Nice video as always Tom. Just wondering why the car told you to charge to nearly 100% when it showed you will reach next destination at 38%? When I drove Melb to Sydney it would allow it to get to 20% or less for next destination for my model 3.

Nice comparison Tom👍. You are becoming a regular Bjorn Nyland.
Any comment about the benefit of having a Long Range Model Y or 3 over such a long journey to Qld. Are you happy you chose RWD? You originally had a Performance Model Y on order and even considered a Long Range MY at one stage, but I think the learner driver power to weight restrictions forced your hand.
